Migically entertaining

An easy listen. This story is great for both kids and adults. It's an entertaining story of magic and self discovery.
But...WHERE are Choke and Ambush??? We'd love to finish out the trilogy...or Pillogy as the author likes to say.

Without a doubt, the WORST YA book EVER

Worst part was narration. Narrator attempts to sound conspiratorial made Stevens sound out of breath and wispering. Odd pronunciations, attempts at a child's voice, horrid. I did listen to the whole book hoping that the narration would grow on me, but no such luck.

The story was full of holes and "happy coincidences" that blew the listener right out of the story. Beck was written as a conglomerate of several characters who all had opposing personalities. The other characters were totally flat.

Only good part of the book was when the narrator praised the importance of reading to children... oh, and that it was over.

The narrators voice is off putting

Okay so like, the narrator has a pretty normal voice and at times is good for specific characters. That being said, every time he does the voice of the main character or most of the adults he sounds like a ghoul telling a campfire story. Not gonna lie, at points his voice took me out of the magic of the book. The immersion breaking tone of his voice sounds analogous to something you’d hear in a chilling tales for dark nights story.

Great story held back by narration.

Thoroughly enjoyed the story. I decided to give this one a try at finishing Wizard for Hire. Obert Skye is a talented author who creates intriguing characters. The narrator for this one has an odd cadence to his reading. It took awhile for me to get passed the narration and sink into the world being created.

In the end I still really enjoyed the story. I will try another story from this narrator and see how things go.

An excellent listen and a good book for the kids

This is a book I started reading in high school and put down. I just recently rediscovered it and got it on Audible and just listened to it in its entirety and it is just as enjoyable now as it was when I was in high school.

I love this narrator!

I love this book! Orbert Skye is my top favorite author and I loved his series Leven Thumps so I wanted more and I found this mini series! it did not dissapoint! I love the characters and the backstories and the fantasy these books have. The narrator is wonderful as well. he did Leven thumps as well and I really like that he gives each of the characters a different voice! He is wonderful to listen to.
I recommend this book and audiobook to everyone!
