Publisher's summary

“Before I can begin my tale, you need to know about the king's panties.”

So begins the epic adventure of 14-year-old Nigel, digger of latrines, shoveler of poop, and the single greatest threat to all the humans, elves, and halflings of Esteria.

Nigel needs to escape from military school. Who can blame him? After all, the king just declared war on the gorks, and he's pretty sure his latrine-digging skills aren't going to be much good on the front lines.

Problem is, Nigel's escape efforts have a way of backfiring, taking him further from home, and destroying, well, pretty much everything that gets in his way. By the time he and his arch-frenemy are banished from the kingdom and sent on an impossible quest for a (probably bogus) magical artifact, the humans of Esteria find themselves longing for the good old days when they were merely being annihilated by Lord Smoron.

Book one of the Nigel Chronicles, The Dragon Squisher tell the story of how Nigel, his too-perfect comrade Lance Hightower, and Eldrack, a female gork prisoner with a well-earned grudge against humans, usher in a new era of chaos and magic.

great voice that matches the story very well!

this is an easy to read/listen to story. The voice work is done in a way that really fits with the story. I enjoyed how the writter found humor in almost every situation while also seeing the main character grow. the references to another story adds to the fun while listening. This is not an epic tale but it is a nice fun read.

Hilarious!

This wonderful delight was hilarious. The story had amazing satire and spin on several classics (in my opinion they are classics)! I loved the narration. Spoiler alert: you will enjoy Dragon Crusher, I mean Dragon Squisher.

Awesome book!

I love how Nigel is the dangerous and funny one, Eldrack is the fighter and insult master, and Lance is fast and clever. Each character is so memorible, I just can't resist this audiobook. I love how the narrator gave each person their voice. This book is so easy to get lost in, and you always get a laugh no matter how many times you read\listen to The Dragon Squisher. I'm a perfect mix of the three main characters, and its impossible to choose a favorite. I can listen to this book well into the night. I love the insanely dumb villian, Smoron. He even looks dumb! I always think ' this book would be an amazing movie!' I am always trying to picture the characters in real life. Nigel says that he's average hight for a 14 year old, but its kinda hard to picture that, because I'm a 6-foot tall 13-year old. Soooo... I'm about Eldrack's hight, if Nigel is about 5'6-5'7. I think that I might make a replica of the Amulet for fun. I looove this book! but if you want my opinion, skip over most of chapter eight. you'll thank me later. other than that, i would request this audiobook to my 10 year old brother.

Kids loved this one, parents were entertained

The author and narrator are very funny. Their wry humour went over well with audiences of all ages. There are some sly references to The Hobbit. Lots of jokes and some swashbuckling adventures.

finally LGBT representation in fantasy!

homophobes are gonna hate on this book to hell. saying we dont want diversity pushed down our throat. in reality, there is an extremely limited number of fantasy books with gay elements. im really glad for it. if you dont want to hear that, dont get the book and go back to your swamp

I cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoyed this story. the main character is the stuff of LEGEND. Beautiful satire. Witty dialogue. I laughed, I cried (from laughter), it moved me. I was moved.
