About the Creator

When he’s not flustering emus or stymying mambas, Scott McCormick enjoys annoying his children until they tell their mother. He also writes. He writes all kinds of stuff. Some of it is good. He wrote the Mr. Pants series of graphic novels. Those were good. You should totally check them out. So are the books he writes for Audible, including Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World, and its sequel, Rivals 2. He’s got a hilarious book about pirates coming out soon, and he’s also excited about his first novel, The Dragon Squisher, which is just as funny and squishy as it sounds. Scott lives on the western edge of the easternmost part of southern North Carolina, right smack in the middle of it all.

Hilarious!

Oh, wow. This is a wild ride! It's part homage, part take-down of the classic quest fantasy. If you want some laughs, some Gorks, some military school, and a boat-load of irreverence, this one's for you. For kids, sure, but will definitely appeal to adults with a good sense of humor!

Not fun, not a kid's book

got this to listen because I wanted something fun and easy to listen to while I walked. this was marketed as a children's story, so I thought it would be funny. It's not. actually, the scenes with the main protagonist in boot camp was actually rather traumatizing. I just couldn't go on. have no idea why people think this is a fun book.

Funny parallel universe to LotR

Although the adventure aims at a teenage readership, the story is fun for all ages, especially if you like the Lord of the Rings universe.

Just No

To much to even put in here and only got through an hour. Also Forcing a character’s sexuality on people and their children after an hour into the book is unnecessary. There was absolutely no need to bring that into a storyline. What does having that aspect of a character revealed have to do with “Squishing dragons? Nothing!

Homosexuality

I didn’t appreciate the homosexuality introduced into this book. This is a children’s book about a 14 year old boy. I was listening to this with my son and we stopped it and won’t be finishing it. I wish there was a niche section of audiobooks available for those of us with traditional values. “Diversity” includes diversity of thought and diversity of opinion. Not Everyone has to agree with homosexuality or read about it. If that isn’t true then it isn’t really “diversity” that is being sought but “totalitarian” and “thought policing.”

not suitable for young children. should not be under the category of children's audiobooks. preteen would be a more appropriate category. not impressed at all.

Lol

Lol sums it up pretty good. A story within a story using funny names, great adventure, and strong bonding with friends. I really enjoyed it.

Kids loved it 8-10

Kids loved this. Good humour including magical panties, gorks, dragons that smell like farts, time travelling adventure, and the all smelling nose. What is there not to like?

More please!

From start to finish, I was enraptured by this title. If this certainly is, as it so says, 'Book One' of the Nigel Chronicles then I cannot wait until the follow-up.

The characters were all memorable and, for the most part, extremely likeable; with the plot, too, moving along at a decent, steady pace with plenty of fun moments and sequences spread throughout the title.

The humour was also on point, for the most part.

The narrator was great, too; switching between varied voices deftly in a way that made them immediately recognisable.

Overall, an absolute blast! Can't wait to see what's next!

Great kids or adults story with lots of interesting characters and several funny bits. Well narrated
