It works

If you've ever seen Peter on TV and thought, "I need him to come to my house", this is your chance. The audio version is perfect, you can start tossing your clutter while you're listening. Get a big box of trash bags and a few tissues handy as he takes you step by step through every room of your home.

An approach that makes sense. Goodbye cluddah.

Liked it. Am cautiously optimistic Walsh's approach might do the trick for me.
The book is not much about getting organized. The focus is squarely on the how, what and why of getting rid of stuff.
Since listening I've gotten rid of considerably more stuff than I've taken in...without regret. So far, so good.
Overall this is a very good listen with only minor cons:
Walsh comes around and repeats himself a bit. Also,
Usually I don't mind and sometimes even prefer a reader's British (or in this case Aussie) accent, but the accent makes the word "clutter" come out "cluddah". You hear the word pronounced like that 500 times and it might get annoying. But maybe that's not so bad though cause now when I see clutter I hear cluddah cluddah cluddah in my head, which annoys me and maybe helps me want to get rid of the stuff.
I think Walsh is on point and he definitely deserves a listen.

Baby Steps

Where does It's All Too Much rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was an easy listen and definitely gave me a lot to think about as I try to organize my house.

What does Peter Walsh bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is realistic- he knows that people cannot change overnight and that taking on too much at once leads to failure.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The idea I took is that change is gradual and small steps can lead to big changes. I feel like this book really helped me realize that I don't have to change everything all at once.

Good advice but annoying narration...

Good advice but the author who is also the narrator, is simply quite annoying to listen to.
Anyway, the advice is comprehensible and usable.

Good info...but where are the worksheets?

I love Peter Walsh and I enjoyed this book. Let's be honest: It really is kind of hard to come up with The One and Only Method to Organize; this topic has been covered time and again, so it's very challenging to inspire the chronically disorganized like me. Peter achieved it and I have to give him credit for effectively reading his own book.

The issue I have with the book does not have anything to do with him, though... I was frustrated that the awesome worksheets he kept mentioning were not available to me. I would think that the world of audio books had developed enough to make them available for download on the site once you purchased the book. Even so, his descriptions are so detailed that you can easily work around not having them.

Great Ideas....

Love Peter Walsh and this is a great audiobook because he narrates it himself. It has a lot of useful ideas, though he is strict in his system of organization and orderliness....especially when it comes to the bedroom. He's wonderful to listen to and very insightful when it comes to decluttering and tossing out the stuff that no longer serve our lives.

A++

This is literally the best “decluttering” book I have come across— and I have probably finished over 12 just in 2022! I loved the concept of reimagining each space the way I wanted it to be, and to add up the cost of the clutter and how it is stealing my space and time instead of focusing on the actual cost of the things. Those two statements made all the difference for me and I just want to say thank you Peter. I hope to pay it forward by gifting this book to others!
