Publisher's Summary

A houseful of clutter may not be the only reason people pack on extra pounds, but research proves that it plays a big role. A recent study showed that people with super-cluttered homes were 77 percent more likely to be overweight or obese!

In Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight, organizing guru Peter Walsh comes to the rescue with a simple six-week plan to help listeners:

  • Clear their homes of excess stuff as they discover their visions for their personal spaces
  • Clear their bodies of excess pounds as they follow a healthy, super-simple eating and exercise plan
  • Clear their minds and spirits of the excess weight of too many possessions

Rodale took the program for a test drive with two dozen volunteers who followed his plan. All reported great results - from significant weight loss to calmer minds and more organized, happier, and more efficient lives.

Wanting More Relationship With Myself and Others

I liked the straightforward and practical talk Peter Walsh has about the connection of being overweight and clutter. There are practical strategies and a requirement for reflection.

I would recommend this book for individuals who are ready to make a change in themselves to change their environment.

It's ok...

Would you recommend Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe, This book is very repetitive and having it as an audiobook, is ridiculous. There is an entire chapter where the author is explaining exercises for people to do during a 6 week period while they are decluttering their home. Reading it and having it include pictures would be more beneficial.

I am once again attempting to tackle this hot mess but I have new tools gifts from this book the why , the how, the way to get one space at a time done and maintain it that way space by space step by step . I am not a stupid person by no means but this has always eluded me this book made the light bulb click on . I will keep Peter updated on my success.

Helpful book

What did you like best about Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight? What did you like least?

I liked the way the book made me think about new items I would bring into the house (and items I'd bring into my body). It also made me feel less guilty to get rid of gifts, "the gift is NOT your aunt." What I liked the least was the idea to do workouts with the stuff I'm getting rid of. I guess that would be a good idea for some people, but it just isn't for me.

What aspect of Shaun Grindell’s performance would you have changed?

Another review mentioned that he overemphasized certain words. This was cured by listening to the book at 1.25 speed. It was much more enjoyable!

Really changed my way of thinking

I don't have a cluttered house or weight problems but read this to better understand those issues. In the process I learned more about myself and learned that my work life is cluttered even though my home life is not. Great tools in this book. The performance was a bit hard to get used to because emphasis is made by the actor on every phrase or sentence. I found myself tired of all the emphasis.

Worth twice the price!

If you could sum up Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight in three words, what would they be?

It was a very well organized trip through the organizational process. My wife and I listened to this on a 3 week trip through the northeast, it was very enjoyable and stirred a good bit of discussion. Well worth your time.

What did you like best about this story?

The correlation of clutter to weight was a welcome idea to explore and was looked at in a refreshing way!

Too repetitive

The general concept is good, I agree with the connection between weight and clutter. However, there is not enough here to be an entire book. Too repetitive.

I liked the way it gave you permission to let things go. I would suggest changing the reading speed to 1.2x to make it more enjoyable.
