During her multi-book investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question “How do I respond to expectations?” we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.

Publisher's summary
Fans of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo and The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin will love The Clutter Connection by organization expert Cassandra Aarssen.
An organization book for diverse habits
"You're not messy, you just organize differently." The Clutter Connection examines and explains the correlation between brain types and how they directly relate to organization and clutter. Cassandra Aarssen smashes the stereotype that some people are "naturally messy" and offers listeners insight and real-life solutions based on their unique personal organizing style. The Clutter Connection will help you get organized, be more productive, and finally understand the why behind your clutter.
Individualized real-life organizing
Organizing isn't one size fits all. Let go of the preconceived and conventional notions of what organization looks like and finally discover what Clutterbug you are. With self-awareness comes happiness, personal growth, and lasting change.
The Clutter Connection examines the four different organizing styles and how they relate to each other; how motivation and happiness can be directly affected by our space; the "3P's" - productivity, procrastination, and perfectionism - and how they are connected to your unique organizing style; and how you can finally become clutter-free simply by knowing yourself better.

Life Changing Aproach - Way different than others
Learning the way people organize is the first thing that ever has had any lasting impact on our home. My husband is a cricket and I am a butterfly (with bee project mess tendencies). We have been living in a cluttered home for 17 years. We just couldn't figure out what was going to work. I have read countless books searching for the answer but noting ever worked until I stumbled upon o YouTube video of the bug styles which lead me here. We finally have momentum and I know in time, which this new knowledge, we will get the whole house under control. Thanks so much!

Eye Opening!
I have read a lot of organization books and thia is the fireat one that truly understands my cleaning habit. I am a butterfly and just knowing that there are nore people like me out there is so comforting! She really goes into detail for all 4 of the different organizational types of people. I listened to the whole book, even though mine was the very first one. The reason I did this is because sometimes you have to share a space with someone either at work or at hone. I know I have lived with a Cricket and we could not come together on our styles and This book might have saved our relationship. Now that O have the tools that will help me I am going to do before and after pics. Thank you so much for writing this amazing book. I recommend this book to anyone, and I do mean anyone! This is a great book for men and women alike!

Very helpful concept with some FlyLady overlap
Excellent breakdown, very helpful. Ideas from FlyLady too, but it all worked well for me. I have already used the digital materials and checked out the Clutterbug website, YouTube channel, and Facebook page.
Having started decluttering/organizing in earnest last month but my new system already not working, finding my Clutterbug organizational style was like a lightbulb moment. I have already re-done some of the easier areas in my closet and it feels so much more relaxed now.
The narrator had good inflection and pace, though her voice as a whole was a touch too "syrupy" for me - I could tell it was simply her normal voice, though, and for the most part it didn't bother me after that.
I am considering purchasing the print copy of this book as well. It's that helpful. If you've ever been a FlyBaby in the FlyLady system (as I have been for 11+ years), you'll recognize certain things immediately from that system. However, it all works well together and as they BOTH say, "Progress, not perfection."
Highly recommended.

I think this is definitely true.
Solves a lot of problems in relationships! Solves problems personally/individually. I learned about organization for ADHD people because of a family member. What is said in this book is what I have seen works for that family member. Therefore, I already reached a similar conclusion as the author and believe she is on the right track. I see another family member in the pages of this book and look forward to having everyone at least take the quiz. I think my husband is probably similar to me, and that's probably why we don't annoy each other any more than we annoy ourselves. I've already been showing this book to others. And it's fun to have a title/nickname for myself. I am a combination of two bugs, but primarily a cricket. I have lived with all types, I'm afraid, and have learned to tolerate all of them through life experience. But this is refreshing and gives me hope that maybe there can be more happiness and peace on the part of everyone, if they are interested in applying the ideas and recommendations in this book.

Super Insightful
I have read several books on the topic of decluttering and home organization. this is the first book to delve into the psychology of personal preferences and personality. I have long known that I do not view clutter the same way as my family members or roommates. now I finally understand why. I'm a butterfly. when it comes to decluttering & Home organization my favorite book remains that by Mari kondo. This book it takes the number 2 spot.

Great audiobook
The tips and tricks, the level of understanding of human nature, the witt and the friendly tone make this book fantastic.
It's an eye opener and I highly recommend it, because it not only explains the way to find out which is your individual organizing style but how to cope with different people with different organizing style both at home and at work.

It's crazy that I could live my life without ever hearing and understanding the different organizing styles. I am a butterfly and have always felt bad, stressed, overwhelmed and judged. Worst part is I thought I was alone in feeling that way! Out of site out of mind is me and it was a big fear I had. This book was life changing. Thank you and thank you! Cleaning is easier now!
This is by far my favorite book from this author. She has helped me so much. My family and I live in a tiny two bedroom apartment and I have found it very hard to keep clean and clutter free. This book has helped a ton to understand why its so hard to keep clean. I am a butterfly and I totally have all my clothes on every surface in my bedroom and nothing in my drawers. Totaly hit the nail on the head! I now have gotten rid of my dresser and use a cube shelf to put all our clothes in. I can see what I have and now I actually put them away! Thank you Cas!

This book is completely logical and practical.
It's not for entertainment. if you live with someone (yes I suggested my husband read it) it's a must. so much anxiety, resentment and restlessness can simply go away. There's a pun on there somewhere. I live in a all apartment, my husband and I are opposites in many ways but we never want to move, the location is too good, but we need a post-covid home office for 2...this book was a must for us.
This book was recommended to me by someone with adhd, if you have adhd (or suspect some tendencies), this book will give you freedom/calm/fit to you. I'm sure there's other neurodiverse minds will like this book, anyone who doesn't appreciate "shoulding" all over themselves. Perfectionists too, anyone suffering overwhelm. This book can change lives, save relationships and amplify happiness and productivity. Get listening.

Excellent advice, it's like having a conversation with a friend.
One draw back I'm not so keen on the voice of the reader.
Having come across Cas through her YouTube channel I would have preferred her own voice because I think the humour written into the book would come across better.

Who knew there were Clutter types
I loved this book because it made me appreciate how my clutter impacts on the rest of my household and vice versa which I had never done before and this explains why our clutter remains because if o clear a space my husband will fill it

Unlistenable
Robotic jumpy AI narration that doesn't finish a sentence without sounding like a skipping CD track. Can't remember if it was free or I used credits, really hoping I didn't waste money on it

Really helpful book
I have always struggled with mess since I was a child when my room was filled with my parent's things and I had no room for my own. This book helped me acknowledge the things that I tell myself which cause me to give up on organisation, and to critically evaluate the systems and methods that I have in place that don't work, the ones that do work, and why. Together with the author's youtube channel Clutterbug, I have accumulated a host of different ideas that I can use to help me master organising in a style that works for me. I'm excited to get started!

Glad give it a try
Initially I was expecting author to be reading the book. So took bit of time getting used to different narrator. Glad stuck with it and found book helpful to organising and clutter clearing. I listen to it while sorting.

Interesting with slightly annoying narration
The narrator definitely gives feeling to her speech, but it’s a little OTT and sometimes the emphasis changes what I think was the original tone.
The different clutter types are very interesting to hear about and it definitely makes sense to me - I plan to implement some of the suggestions for my ‘type’.
But yeah, the narration is very “American” and annoying, at times. I still finished it though.

The author likes to toot their own horn
I've never heard an author talk so highly about.. themselves. An odd listen, not many actionable steps. I found Marie Kondo's 'The KonMari Method' to be much more beneficial.

Great book
So inspiring and reassuring. Next book I hope you narrate it yourself, the narrator was great but I just prefer hearing the authors voice.

Good for understanding how to manage clutter
I am a professional organiser, I respect her great research, and I actually implemented her tests and methods in my work. It works.

Good, not great
Didn't love the narrator- her delivery was a bit robotic. The content was interesting, but not ground breaking. Different organisation styles were interesting.

Now I know why filing cabinets never worked for me
Wow! This book is changing my life as I write this! Understanding the type of organiser I am is like a life-long epiphany! I get why filing cabinets never worked, why my cupboards were always chock full, why I can't stand the site of clutter in plain sight and why I lost motivation to clean because the clutter and lack of desire (or time) to file things away was draining! Now shoe boxes are my best friend while I work out macro organising systems that work for me, then I'll know what baskets to buy. Who knew organising could be fun!
