Publisher's summary

From the author of the Audie Award-winning and the New York Times best-selling Marriage Games comes a deeply intense new series.

Everything is going to be perfect. Greyson comes home from deployment to live the life she and her husband Caden dreamed of. He has a surgical residency, and she has a psychiatric practice in the basement of their Manhattan brownstone.

Caden loves his wife more than he can measure. But he starts hearing whispers. Someone else loves her. Someone else wants her. There's someone else, and though whoever's behind the whispers will move mountains to have her, Caden will move heaven and earth to keep her.

Greyson will never break her vows, even as their marriage snaps apart one piece at a time; even as the line between reverie and reality blurs; even as Caden demands control, and Greyson cedes it. She will never, ever turn her back on him. When their marriage crumbles, her resolve shakes and love becomes the one thing holding them together.

Missing Something

This is a great book with a good story and interesting characters but something is missing, maybe more detail and possibly believability. I'm not sure I was able to suspend reality for this CD Reiss book. It is a cliffhanger which is frustrating, but the story ends with possibilities, ideas, and suspicions that most likely will make the next book in the series better than this one. It was worth the credit but I'm not sure I'll read the next one.

wow what an intense read!

4.5 stars

WTF did I just read?! OMG what a twisted, insane, dark and weird this story was. But it seems like it spoke to my crazy self and I really enjoyed it. I’m sure this will not be everyone’s cup of tea. I was on the edge of hating it one minute and loving it the other, but boy, the idea was so original and kept me intrigued the whole time. I listened to the audio of this book and the narration is amazing – duet narration by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell and they absolutely nailed every emotion and transferred the intensity of this story.

I jumped into this absolutely blind. I only heard it was a mindf*ck and boy, it was that and so much more. The idea behind is really unconventional and even though it was a bit twisted I loved that couple and the way they fought to save their marriage. Some parts were a bit disturbing even though I can’t say I’m a prude. It definitely went beyond my comfort zone in some places, but I still feel the story is interesting and has potential. That ending OMFG. My jaw hit the floor. Now I want to know WTF happened and my curiosity is going wild. The theories running through my head are countless and I’m eager to know more.

This is not your typical romance, although it’s about a couple that loves each other fiercely. It’s definitely a mindf*ck and will make your head spin and keep you on the edge the whole time. Go for it with an open mind and just let yourself be swallowed by this twisted, unconventional story

This is fantastic!!!

CD Reid’s is one of my very favorite, must read authors, and this book…. This excellent book is just one of the reasons why. Her ability to grab your attention at the beginning of a book, draw you in with more, and wrap you up in the story so that all you want to do is read more and more is her super power!

Caden is dealing with an issue that he doesn’t want his wife to know about. It’s making him act very differently than his normal self. He’s becoming more and more dominant and hurts her. Grayson is a mental health professional who works with PTSD patients and feels Caden’s issue is not PTSD, but she doesn’t know what it is yet. When he re-signs into the reserves so that he qualifies for specialized diagnosis and treatment, Grayson is angry.

Can they survive this? They love each other, but can he keep from hurting her further before he gets the help he needs? Or will he end up being called back to the war??? I can’t wait to find out!!

Joe Arden… he’s fantastic. Maxine Mitchell is a newer narrator for me, and I like her!!

There aren't enough stars to show my love for this

CD Reiss is my author crush. Her brilliant storytelling of these two exceptional, imperfect people and how they began is captivating. The sex is hot as hell 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 but the love is thermonuclear. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell 's duet narration is seamless and fluid. 🎧 I'm hooked and I need more.

Military with a twist.

This is the best alpha book I’ve ever read. You have out done yourself again.

Very intense and screwed up but riveting

The performance is fantastic and done as a duet so it really flows during Rough Edge. The first 2/3 are part 1 of the larger narrative and called Rough Edge but the last 1/3 is Cutting Edge- the prequel. This part is narrated by Maxine Michelle and is Grayson’s point of view for how they met and their relationship while they are both active service. It is interesting but not as engaging as the duet performance.
Caden is a surgeon with definite psychological issues. His wife Grayson has her own issues and is a psychiatrist. Both are former military in Rough Edge and in the war during Cutting Edge. There is the usual sadism dominant/ submissive masochist that CD Reiss is known for. But this story adds plenty more. It is not a story for the faint hearted. Unfortunately it is only the first of several books which means several credits. It also could have been condense and edited some more but is pretty well done.

Cliffhanger

This was a great story but I really hate cliffhangers. The narrators were great! Not going to get sucked into buying the rest.

Nice Surprise!

This is a nice start to what I hope is a great trilogy. Love the main characters; great narration also. The primary story line is a military one, which is unusual for this genre. Because military life in a war zone is unfamiliar to me, the book taught me a great deal about every day life for our brave, talented medical teams in Iraq and Afghanistan. Recommended!!

Could not stop listening...

Intrigue with steam...I know I will finish this series, I think it's a 4 book listen, I stayed well up into the night listening. CD Reiss can write some sexy, steamy scenes. I can feel the love and passion and commitment her couples have for each other just listening to their stories. There are many questions left unanswered after Book 1 so on I go!
