Publisher's summary

Logan Crowne needs one year from Ella.

Twelve months living in his house, holding his hand, wearing his ring on her finger, and in exchange, she’ll get her father’s company in the divorce settlement.

They have one year to convince his skeptical parents that they’re happily in love, and he’s settled enough to run Crowne Industries.

Ella wants the company badly enough to live with a man who will never love her. She’ll sleep in his room and kiss him for show.

Her heart may melt whenever he’s around, and his touch may ignite a fire inside her, but surrender will break her heart.

She’s sure she can last a year without giving him her body.

She’s wrong.

Great Story!

This story is about a marriage of convenience for both people. Logan needs a wife according to his father to be happy which in turn he gets to take over the company. Ella needs his money to buy her father's company back so she can bring it back to its former glory.
Logan doesn't want to get married, he thinks it is a silly idea that marriage will make him happy. When he talks to Ella he feels something inside that he can't explain. Maybe it is just the attraction between them that he feels, maybe he should sleep with her and it will go away, after all, she is not what he would choose for a wife.
Ella wants her father's company back and needs Logan Crowne's money to get it. She knows they are not made for each other but she feels an attraction to him that is undeniable. Maybe she should just sleep with him and get it over with.
They need each other and make the decision to spend two to three years together. Contracts are drawn, signed, and the marriage is done. No friends or family around. Just a kiss that will sear them both.
Can they continue this farce without falling in love? Will they convince his family it is true love? Will Ella be able to get her father's company back?
This is a great story and I loved Logan and Ella, most of the time. They didn't know that communication was what they needed in order to be true to themselves. I am fairly new to Audible and loving Joe Arden as a narrator, Maxine Mitchell was great too.

Perfect example of when 5⭐ is not enough

Let's start with the writing. CD Reiss creates a world that you see in your mind eye so clearly and vividly that it becomes a secondary character in it self. I lived in the Hollywood area many years ago and I get transported back by the way she brings the city to life. The characters feed off of it and how life is constantly moving there. With this said what makes this story so addictive and engaging is the chemistry and the beautiful flawless writing. There is an effortlessness is how she weaves in emotional connection and builds the high stakes for both characters and it makes this audio completely unputdownable.
The casting for the narration is perfect. PERIOD!! Joe and Maxine deliver and then some! Them together is always a treat because as a fan I know they love to work together and how passionate they are. As the story moves of and the power plays become elevated they narration does the same. It shows so much of their range and so much of their connection and I become riveted. Maxine shows vulnerability and emotion while Joe is all Alpha, gruff and yet he is on a journey of self awareness. I can not say enough about how trully amazing and worth a credit this audio is. If I thought I loved Iron Crowne, this book completely took it over by a mile!! The heat, the power struggle, the chemistry, the high stakes, the narration and the writing make this easily a top audio for me this year. ALL THE STARS!!!

Delicious tropey goodness.

I freaking love this book. Between the narration and just the overall feel of it, I love it.

You have the rich guy and arty woman entering into a marriage contract. There’s wild attraction. Feels being catched and the Crowne family.

And this is where I just fell for this book. The matriarch of the Crowne family. There’s something magical when the mother grounds the family. She made me cry a few times and it was all happy tears. Maxine Mitchell absolutely slayed this performance for me. Joe Arden was very good as well.

The love story of Logan and Ella is pretty typical for the trope. Yet I felt like they worked really well. It was interesting to relate with both characters trying to find their place in life only to realize they had it wrong the whole time.

I’m really enjoying this family. My curiosity is definitely piqued for future stories.

Logan, my Logan!

This is shaping up to be a great series. This is the second book of the Crowne brothers series. After. Byron Crowne--intended successor to lead Crowne Industries--finds his own success outside the family business, Logan is waiting for official word of his appointment of CEO. He went to school to study business, put in the long hours to show his father he was the only choice. Before handing Logan the keys to the corner office, Ted issues Logan the challenge to find love, and not focus so much on making CEO of Crowne Industries. He asks Byron to take charge again, while Logan takes time off to enjoy life. Once he settles down and has a partner in life, Ted will appoint him CEO. This infuriates workaholic Logan to no end. He doesn't want or need a wife, but if he's going to run Crowne Industries, he needs to find one.

Ella, heiress to the Pappillon fashion house, the one her wicked stepmother has taken the reigns after her father's passing. Making changes to her beloved father's company, Ella feels Bianca is ruining her father's company, reputation, and replacing his high-end couture with adolescent garbage. If she only had the money to get the company away from her scheming stepmother, things would be good again. When Logan approaches her with an offer that will help them both achieve their goals, a deal is made.

With a surprise wedding to announce to his family, Logan introduces Ella as his new bride. The family is surprised, but Logan is determined to make it through his "marriage" so he can be back in the Crowne C-suite. Ella can't wait to kick her stepmother out of her father's company. Being married to a Crowne has plenty of perks. What neither of them expect is the strong chemistry between them. But they can fight it, right? WRONG!!

I loved this opposites attract thing going between Logan and Ella. By learning so much about each other, it forces them to realize some truths about themselves they neede to confront and conquer. This marriage becomes a soul-searching journey that neither of them expected. There are some issues other than theirs going on, which plays into Logan and Ella's issues. I loved the searing heat between Logan and Ella, wish there was more. Thanks for that, Christine.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell are perfect in this tale!

The catchup with the rest of the Crowne family is great. Can't wait for Dante's story.
