Publisher's Summary

A twist of fate proves wildly explosive in New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss’s smart and sexy Hollywood romance about the cost of running from your past to get to your dreams.

Cutting all ties, Kayla Montgomery drives cross-country to Los Angeles. New start. New life. And an unexpected new job: assistant to Justin Beckett.

The Justin Beckett.

The boy band rebel with the cocky attitude and dreamy bed head who casts a spell over his fans and tests the patience of his handlers.

Now at the peak of Mount Adulthood, he has to build a clean-cut, movie star image. It’s in his contract. No partying. No attitude. No groupies.

To tie it together, he needs a normal girl.

Suddenly, Kayla’s swept up in Justin’s glamorous world, and his arms. But the most dizzying thing is Justin himself. Sweet, generous, reliable, and as eager to shed his past as Kayla is hers.

About that....

Those ties she thought she’d cut? They’ve followed her across the country with her secrets in tow, and they’re about to test Kayla’s courage, Justin’s loyalty, and a love that wasn’t part of the deal.

3.5 ⭐️.. ENTERTAINING & ENJOYABLE

I must admit, I was a wee bit hesitant going into this story thinking hummm maybe this was going to be a YA story,, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out Justin is 25... (nearly 26) and, when CD Reiss is writing the story and two very talented narrators are bringing it to life, I thought it should be good. And thankfully, thanks to their abilities, it was.

When Justin meets Kayla he’s the arrogant, entitled, impulsive, spoiled, rich guy the tabloids say he is. However, Justin is in a world of trouble, he’s fighting to claw out a new career for himself as an actor after his boy band spectacularly broke up - and the finger for that f’k up points directly his way! Yes, he’s beautiful, yes he’s caring, yes he’s a dedicated hard worker.. and yes he’s very much used to life ‘his’ way. No one tells him “no”.. but suddenly there’s a mysterious, feisty, mouthy woman saying exactly that.. and she isn’t interested in anything he says either. Kayla has been burned, she’s hit rock bottom, she’s got baggage and she hasn’t got two sh’ts to give anyone.. especially for the pampered Player who is determined to throw her a lifeline. And, when she does reluctantly grab that lifeline, it brings her squarely into his drama and it changes both their lives forever. It also reveals secrets, uncovers villains, settles the past, unites two worlds and character growth does the rest. So, after the rocky ground shakes and the earth moves for them.. they both eventually get their perfect (and well-deserved) happy ever afters. And Kayla’s strength, hard shell, determination and feisty plucky character once dulls then shines through her own personal and professional conflicts. And, during their rocky first steps when she wasn’t impressed, during their shaky second-bases when both realize they want more and the very real road to redemption for them both.. they were realIstic, generous of spirit and heart, genuine and showed depth of character.

A very enjoyable dual POV story.. a wrongly accused and vilified rockstar’s who’s lost his way.. and is led back by a woman who helped him get there whilst she was also fighting her own demons and securing her own future.. and he was there for her too. Great narration by Emma and Joe brought Kayla and Justin to life, injected the warmth and the emotions needed.. which brought fun and flutters, smiles and frowns, jeers and cheers and heart to the romantic scenes.

Worth a credit? Well, that all depends on you, I did really enjoy this audiobook.. after all, it’s a CD Reiss compelling addictive love story.. but, hand on heart - there were a few time where Justin Bieber’s image kept transposing my mental images of this Justin - which (for me) wasn’t good coz I like the more mature alpha type men.. however I persevered 😉🤭😷🙂

Fun listen

She runs to LA to leave behind her past and runs into the biggest pop star. She becomes a personal assistant and falls for the bad boy of Hollywood.
Her past catches up to her and I found the harassment storyline very intriguing- women are often dismissed when they don’t have the power.
Excellent narration from Joe Arden and Emma Wilder. I felt a lot of her pain and uneasiness.

So damn good!

This audio is all of the things!! OMG! Great characters, solid storytelling, outstanding narration and all the feels. It has so much of real life yet it still has enough of swoony romance that you want to loose yourself into. Joe Arden, as always, is spectacular but I think this is Emma Wilder's best narration. She conveys all the emotions and nuances to perfection. The story is all of what Hollywood is in our minds and CD Reiss makes it as if she pulled this story out of People Magazine. I also always love how she makes the city of Los Angeles feel like a living entity. It's an overall winner for sure!!

Sweet and charming with a little steam...

"Lead Me Back" is a sweet, charming, and well-written romance from CD Reiss. While I prefer Ms. Reiss's darker, steamier works, this was a nice change of pace, and I enjoyed it immensely.

Lead me back by Cd Reign

What an awesome listen! Many familiar names popping up, which made it even better. I always tend to put myself into the female’s place and imagine all the wonderful/emotional and seductive moments, the feeling of being that woman that is desired. Brave CD another great one!😜

Great story and FANTASTIC narration!

From start to finish this book is absolutely fantastic. Only CD Reiss could make me fall for a total f*ckboy character like Justin Beckett and of course she gave us a smart, strong heroine to bring him to his knees. Emma Wilder steals the show with her performance, bringing even more depth and emotion to Kayla’s character she truly blew me away. Wow. I can’t believe I waited this long to listen but I’m so glad I finally did. A solid story line that will keep you invested, true to CD Reiss’ writing style there’s deeper issues under the surface bringing a passion into both characters. Loved every second of this book.

Not What I Expected, But Awesome

I'm not sure the book blurb does this one justice. Maybe it was just me...but this wasn't the story I expected based on the blurb I read. But I'm not complaining. This story was way better than what I expected, and strangely, a little less angsty than most of Ms Reiss' novels. At least for me. I'm sure I spent more time laughing through this story than any story of hers I've ever read. Not that this one is a rom-com, but it's got some truly great moments. The "hero," Justin Beckett, is just a rolling human train wreck. I'm pretty sure I've met him before. As for our heroine, well, it's not like Kayla has cornered the market on success in life. But she's had "help" wrecking her life, and she's working her butt off to fix that. On paper, Kayla and Justin just don't look like they should even be in the same room, let alone falling in love.

That, dear readers, is what makes CD Reiss such a good author. Two people with nothing but trouble in their lives, and nothing in common, at the bottom of their proverbial wells with no help in sight. They both need saviors--how are they going to save each other? I can't explain it to you, except to say it involves a lot of humor, heart, and witty banter. This one, you'll just have to find out for yourself.

I really don’t get some of the reviews!

This is a great book, I was hesitant when I saw the review score but thought ‘what the hell, I’ll give it a try’ and I’m so glad I did, fun, easy going and just nice... ok so it’ll never win a noble prize for literature, but the rating it has on audible is just plain wrong in my view, this in my opinion is a 4.6 to 4.8 at least. I’ve sent back much higher ‘rated’ books because they were quite frankly dull or pretentious, none of them anywhere nearly as good as this, despite the difference in rating
