Publisher's Summary

All Pyper Rayne - medium and coffee shop owner - wanted was the perfect vintage dress. What she got was a dead shop owner and a sexy ghost who's suddenly everywhere - at her shop, in her car, and even lounging in her bedroom. But he's not just any ghost. He's a witch and able to appear in solid form...sometimes. If only he'd stop disappearing on her.

And Pyper needs his help. When she becomes target numero uno and the prime suspect in the shop owner's death, it appears her ghost holds the key to solving the murder. In between stolen kisses, Pyper will need to get to the bottom of all of his secrets if she wants to stay alive and out of jail...and maybe finally get that date he keeps promising her.

Sci-fi, detective, cozy. Only give 5s to those books I think stand above the rest. 4 is a good solid book. 3 is average, nothing special.

Another fun little paranormal. Nothing special, but a nice few hours of story. If you like these it's worth a listen.

    "My boyfriend is a ghost"

This was a cute, funny story. I did not realize it was spin off from another series. However, i had not problem following the story. I love the characters. The narration was great. I do look forward to more in this series and the one it spin off from. IIt has ghost, witches good and bad, empaths and all kinds of stuff. Murders being done so a someone can extend there life for about 90 years. Pyper and Jade and the ghost Julius and other friends have to work to find he witch who has killed two and looking to make pyper the 3rd victim to compete their ritual. With the bad witch and the police thinking Pyper is the murderer she has to rely on herself and her friends to solve murders. Just when you think you got him/her things can change and go another way.

    "Love the story but..."

I liked the storyline and think it will end up being even better as it develops. I have been spoiled by having listened to some amazing narrators. I did not get into the flow of the book or get as involved as I would have liked. There is much more to narrating well beyond reading well. You need to hear the excitement, the fear, the joy and the anger to be drawn in.

    "Great Story!"

This is the first book in the Pyper Rayne series and it's terrific! The narrator has done a great job bringing the characters and story to life. I'm looking forward to listening to the other books in this series.

I was provided a copy of this audiobook by the author, I have voluntarily submitted my review.

    "Ghostly Murder Mystery yet Fun!"

I'd forgotten how much fun Deanna Chase's books were. This one is a Murder Mystery that involves, ghosts, witches, demon hunters and many more characters. The atmosphere in New Orleans is just the place for this adventure. While there is romance it isn't steamy sex; which in my opinion makes it all the better. It's all about the plot, characters and adventure with a little romance thrown in. So don't expect half the book to be a detailed sex romp...just isn't happening. Instead, look forward to the adventures of Pyper Rayne and her sexy ghostly friend Julius. Wish, like I did, that they find a way to get together.

Ida Mae (another ghost) keeps things hopping in Pyper's bakery by mischievously changing the menu and decorating the sweets in some sexually suggestive ways. Great fun to be had all through this book.

    "Great!"

paranormal, NOLA, ghosts, supernatural, suspense, murder, Whispersync, friendship

One of those Can't Put It Down Until I Find Out What Happens Next books. Lots of action, plot twists, and suspense, all set in one of my favorite places to be. With supportive friends both living and ghost, Pyper works to solve the murders done by a witch/serial killer and winds up in jail, fighting for her own life, and trying to sort out her relationship with a living ghost, while running her coffee shop and advance her career as a very unusual artist.

    "Witches, Ghosts and Mediums"

This review is for both the ebook and the audiobook. I have both and listened while driving and read when at home.
I just loved this book. To begin with, I wasn't sure how it could ever measure up to the Jade Calhoun series that it's a spin off from. But how could I ever expect anything but excellence from Deanna? She is truly talented. The characters are so lovable, except for that awful female cop! Jade and Kane are also in the book a lot. I can't wait to read the next one. This kept me guessing until the end. I wasn't sure who the killer was. In fact, I hate to admit it but I cheated a little by peeking at the end. lol I know, I'm bad. The audiobook is to die for. The narrator makes it come alive even more. I want to live in this world and be part of it. This is a wonderful read and an even better listen to! You won't be sorry if you purchase both.

    "Ok"

It was a pretty good book but not overly exciting, entertaining or quirky. Not a bad book just not a standout in any way.
