it was ok
I wanted to like it. Plot sounds interesting and I love hell Divers. starts off interesting but the longer it goes the more mundane it becomes. I was able to easily predict what was about to happen next because it's what always happens in theses types of sci fi post apocalypse stories. it's very formulaic. 3 main characters and one of them felt completely useless. Her story just felt like padding. near the end the main character just shifts his entire being for no reason, wasn't even warranted. And at that point I was like just end already.

Fast moving great story.
At first it took me a minute to wrap my head around the storyline. Hard to go from a terrfic series Hell Divers to another series but once I started the story I really began to get into the story. NSS has done it again! I listen on audible and the narrators do such an awesome job. The story is fascinating and the characters are so personable.. The humor and serious sides of the story go hand in hand The characters have personality's that bring the story to life. I will not spoil the story for anyone but one character almost made me spit my coffe out when he got hurt!! I laughed so much reading this book and truly enjoyed the book. I actually listened to it 2 times back to back! Excited for the next book to come out! Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a great book.

Definitely recommended
Great new series by NSS. Love the mix of comedy and through-provoking plot. Epic in scope, and a tight-knit set of character. Love the Trash Squid! Highly recommended.

The Caracters
I got "small flash backs" to the Alien movies, as well as Star Gate, FireFly and a bit "Indiana Jones" thrown in for good measure.

(I also thought a bit of "Expeditionary Force" and Hell Diver"
All mixed in and "grounded", with an almost "Arthurian/Chosen One" story.
ALL SET IN A SPACE-FUTURISTISK WORLD.
And it's all seems "fresh" , and well thought out.
I had some problems, sorting/figuring- out the different caracters and places; but once I got into it.... WOW!!
JUST WOW!!
And the narraters were A...MAZING!
I've already bought book two, so ..
HERE WE GO!

ok not great
I didn't end up finishing the book. the characters were too one dimensional and the plot was a not to my taste. There are better books out there.
