Story
Lean life is the simplicity of living our whole life with intentionality and purpose. We often research, invest, strategize, and work diligently to continuously improve in the workplace yet improvise at home. Lean Life applies the key "lean" business elements I discuss in 2 Second Lean to our personal lives and relationships. It's the simple and practical shop-floor wisdom of stopping our personal assembly line of defects and mistakes to come up with new and improved solutions.

About 10 years ago, I decided that I wanted to become a world-class giver. You might be thinking, "Why are you telling me this at the beginning of a book called Lean Travel?" The reason is quite simple. In order to have a great travel experience, you must approach it from the standpoint that you are going to treat all the people you encounter with dignity and respect, understanding that they are working hard to help you have a great trip.

Doctors don't "implement medicine," they practice medicine. Lawyers don't "implement cases," they practice law. Shouldn't Lean facilitators, consultants, managers, and the like, also "practice Lean?" When most of us start with Lean, the practices and principles are new. We might struggle to make change happen. I know I did. Our initial clumsy efforts hopefully turn into proficiency and mastery over time. We shift from "doing Lean" to "being Lean" and teaching others how to be Lean.

Publisher's Summary
Lean Health is the fountain of youth in a book. It opens your eyes to the most natural and simple strategy for aging in reverse.
If I were to summarize my entire book in one word, it would be Ferrari. The secret to excellent health - the answer - is to treat your body like you would treat a Ferrari. A Ferrari is the archetype of a sports car, one of the most precise and high-performance machines ever made. It is exotic, fast, agile, and beautiful. If you take the same care of your body as you would a Ferrari - using only the best fuel and regularly taking it to the best mechanic for maintenance - your body will give you 10 times what you put into it for the duration of your life. So ask yourself, "Do I treat my body like a Ferrari or a Pinto?"
Lean Health turns the lean model of success for your business...into success for your body.

Lean is Simple...so can your road to better health
What did you love best about Lean Health?
Paul takes his simple approach to a business concept, LEAN and teaches us how to use it outside of the world of business in our everyday lives. It is a common sense approach to structuring your life and making things easier. His analogy of your body being a sports car is spot on. Our body is something that needs to take us thru our entire lifespan. If we treat it like an expensive sports car, putting in only the best gas and oil, regular check-ups, etc. we will get performance and long life!
What did you like best about this story?
Lean is simple. Paul keeps it simple and actually gives you the "secret" right away in the first chapters of the book. No need to delve thru multiple chapters to get to the sweet spot.
What does Paul A. Akers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
If you have followed Paul on his YouTube channel and his various presentations, you get accustomed to Paul's delivery and his humility. He is doing this to make a difference in peoples lives. He wants to change the world!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and did!

Another life changing book by Paul A. Akers
Any additional comments?
I began my lean journey after I met Paul Akers several years ago. His first book "2 Second Lean, How to Grow People and Build a Fun Lean Culture" has transformed my business from struggling chaos to a successful enterprise. "Lean Health" has been a life changer. I was trudging through life like an overloaded airplane struggling to gain lift. My latest weight loss has allowed me to be more agile, feel better and live a healthier life. This book is read by Paul A. Akers himself. In the audible version you will hear his passion, his humor and his dedication to this lifestyle. I highly recommend this audible version.

Very Disappointing
You should only get this book if you know absolutely nothing about nutrition and have a serious lack of motivation. The nutritional information in this book could be summed up in about two sentences. The authors exercise advice is scant and poor and his sleep hygiene is terrible. I'm really surprised that this book has so many good reviews.

Relatatble, Doable, and Practical!
If you could sum up Lean Health in three words, what would they be?
So many of these are written for young people and/or people who do nothing but write and exercise. I found this book very helpful because, like me, he owns a business, travels for work, is over 50, and has struggled with food. The chapter the has on the lies we tell ourselves about food and fitness alone is worth reading the book. The book is written for someone who still pursues challenges, not an aging-gracefully book. He actually has workable suggestions for eating when you have to travel with your job. This book contains many items that are immediately applicable and he has great insight into what drives overeating. Best book for 50+ that I've ever found.

Would you listen to Lean Health again? Why?
Yes, I have listened to it at least 4 times and will continue because it is motivating and helps me to remember to take care of my body every day.
What did you like best about this story?
Paul's passion!
Which scene was your favorite?
I like the app "Lean PD" which is a daily reminder.

To self absorbed
I finished 3/4 of this and had to stop. This book has little, if any, valuable information. I would classify it as more motivational than informational, and in that regard I can acknowledge there is a small amount of value. I do not doubt the author's success, but this book needed a little more "you can do it," and less "look what I did and how everyone one praised me for it."

Any additional comments?
A book that focuses on making the small consistent changes to your life that will have the most impact possible.
Having seen a ton of YouTube videos from the author I was already a fan prior to even reading the book. When I found the book online I rushed ordered it straight to my house.
Constant improvement is the message from Paul in this sit down and can't put it down book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has had struggles making the changes we know we have to make in our life.
