Lean life is the simplicity of living our whole life with intentionality and purpose. We often research, invest, strategize, and work diligently to continuously improve in the workplace yet improvise at home. Lean Life applies the key "lean" business elements I discuss in 2 Second Lean to our personal lives and relationships. It's the simple and practical shop-floor wisdom of stopping our personal assembly line of defects and mistakes to come up with new and improved solutions.

If I were to summarize my entire book in one word, it would be Ferrari. The secret to excellent health - the answer - is to treat your body like you would treat a Ferrari. A Ferrari is the archetype of a sports car, one of the most precise and high-performance machines ever made. It is exotic, fast, agile, and beautiful. If you take the same care of your body as you would a Ferrari - using only the best fuel and regularly taking it to the best mechanic for maintenance - your body will give you 10 times what you put into it for the duration of your life.

Why is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? The primary obstacle is a conflict that's built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed best seller Made to Stick. Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems - the rational mind and the emotional mind - that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie.

The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

Simply AMAZING - the ONE LEAN book to read!!!

Quick Kick in the Pants
What made the experience of listening to 2 Second Lean the most enjoyable?
Paul, the author, made it fun and easy to listen to. This is a down to earth, no stuffy MBA type of Lean book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This is an informational book, not a story so there really no character unless you want to say it's Paul Akers himself.
What does Paul A Akers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brought the excitement. He truly believes and lives what he writes/speaks. He follows every chapter with a video (go to his website).
What insight do you think you’ll apply from 2 Second Lean?
There are so many different points but I guess I'll start in the bathroom. Read/listen to the book and you'll understand.
Any additional comments?
Paul is very generous by uploading numerous videos and documents on his website to help any who wants to go lean to start their journey. He even gives out his personal email if you want to ask him a question directly. Yes, this may also be viewed as an elaborate marketing campaign for his company, Fast Cap; however, he is living what he is preaching and what better way to show that he is doing so than to bring you into his world. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a quick kick in the pants way to approach lean. Great book.

Change how you look at the world!
Would you consider the audio edition of 2 Second Lean to be better than the print version?
While there are upsides to both the print and audible versions, Paul's energetic and enthusiastic narration gives the audible version of
What did you learn from 2 Second Lean that you would use in your daily life?
Readers learn that progress doesnt have to be a giant daunting challenges, its something you work at a little each day, making improving your life easy and fun and do-able!
Any additional comments?
There isn't any better value out there for this amount of your time (or money). Two second lean is not just a book/audible, its a life changing concept that you will carry for the rest of your life!

A great way to kickoff lean in any company!
Where does 2 Second Lean rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is the best book on lean I've listened to.
What did you like best about this story?
It gave plenty of real world examples in such an entertaining way. Most people roll their eyes when management announces that they want to kick off a an initiative like Lean. Have them listen to this book first and they'll be chomping at the bit to get started.
Have you listened to any of Paul A Akers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I finished it in 2 days after buying it.

More applicable to mfg industry
Would you listen to 2 Second Lean again? Why?
I liked the concepts. But much of what was shared was more for the manufacturing industry and less for a general corporate environment. There were good nuggets but wasn't really what I was looking for.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I suppose it would be motivating if I were in a similar environment to the speaker.
What about Paul A Akers’s performance did you like?
Energetic, engaging.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Could, but not necessary.
