Story
Here is a compelling meditation from renowned horseman Mark Rashid on all the ways that the principles we apply in our dealings with fellow humans can apply to our relationships with our horses, and vice versa. Horsemanship Through Life is about awareness, learning, teaching, honesty, integrity, and much more. It is about more than tips or technique; it is about principles to live by. It is about taking ownership of and responsibility for our lives and relationships with horses and humans. It doesn t take long to listen to, but will be with you for life.

Many horse trainers, even those who espouse the so-called natural horsemanship approach, take the position that horses who fail to obey a human's request are doing so as much out of perversity as ignorance. That's not Mark Rashid's view. In his words, "If we understand that horses can't separate the way they feel from the way they act, then we can start to see that unwanted behavior isn't bad behavior at all. More times than not, it's just the horse expressing the way he feels at that particular moment in time....

Sourdough bread fueled the labor that built the Egyptian pyramids. The Roman Empire distributed free sourdough loaves to its citizens to maintain political stability. More recently, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, sourdough bread baking became a global phenomenon as people contended with being confined to their homes and sought distractions from their fear, uncertainty, and grief. In Sourdough Culture, environmental science professor Eric Pallant shows how throughout history, sourdough bread baking has always been about survival.

The stuff of conspiracy theories makes for great, entertaining stories in movies, books, and television. And there is no shortage of subjects: from who really killed JFK to the truth behind 9/11. And then, there are subjects from alien invasions to the Moon landing was simulated - theories that are truly out of this world, which according to some, is flat. Education can be enriching and transformative. It can also be downright excruciating—even demoralizing. When it comes to learning, why are some of us lovers and some of us haters? Welcome to the world of educational psychology, which uses science to explore what causes people to engage and learn, and what we can do to make learning opportunities more enjoyable and impactful. Spoiler alert: Teachers can only do so much. Students, too, must take control of their learning. Unfortunately, many of us never, ahem, learned the skills to do just that.

Exceptional!
Dr. Kristyn Vitale at Oregon State University presents a course on cat behavior and human interaction via ten lectures. The Dr. will discuss and educate on stereotypes, training, and differences between wild and domestic. Such as the Feliss lineage, African, and the significance to humans. Free roaming, feral, and domestic. The history of, and the domestication process. The Farm Fox Experiment, vocalizations, colorizations; piebald versus blending with the environment, maturity, litter, and body proportions. It’s an excellent read and well worth your time.

Learned a lot about cats!
I have always been a cat lover since I was young, looking to learn as much as I can about them. This book taught me a lot about cats that I didnt know about and was well worth the listen to.
The narrator makes the content understandable and enjoyable. Would recommend for the cat lovers who want to learn more about their furry friends.

Interesting but not quite what I wanted
Lots of scientific information but not enough practical information. For instance, why a cat might suddenly bite and how to avoid that, bathroom problems, how to bathe your cat, what to look for when buying a cat, should an indoor cat get the same vaccinations as an outdoor cat, etc.

Decoding cats
I was surprisingly pleased with this book on Audible. I somewhat surfed the first 4-5 chapters since they were filled with more technical details than I was looking to learn at this point. Someday I may return to them so I better understand cat hearing, sight and tactile feelings. The most helpful were later chapters on training, behavior changes and social interaction. The author was well studied and informative. Unlike other ignorant authors that state that cats can’t be trained, she presents methods of training to employ. Of course, she is correct – we readily trained a rescued outdoor cat to go through a pet door in our garage and use a litter box there with treats. We also halter trained him (still working on the leash) and are working on “sit” and “high 5”. I have trained birds, dogs and horses . . . why wouldn’t a cat be trainable if a mouse is? Ms Vitale is a true cat lover, advocate and researcher. Her information can help those with a narrow view of their cat’s potential and total relationship. Would recommend!
