If you've never thought about retirement before, this will help frame the problem.

But it may feel too basic for folks who already have retirement funds, who think about how to increase income and cut costs, etc..

It is never too late, and I believe that! It is a great eye opening book!

Eye opening

There were some things in this book that I had to idea about and it has opened my mind up to new and rewarding possibilities. It breaks down the savings part for me which I really needed to know and the wealth snowball was an excellent chapter that I had to reheat at least twice. Overall, this book has been very insightful and I now understand a lot more about money and how I can continue to use this tool to my advantage.

Excellent Audiobook

I would recommend this Audiobook to anyone. I’m currently an Undergraduate Student and this book has definitely increased my knowledge. JD Roth explained his point of view in an effective manner.

started off slow but finished well

I enjoyed listening to this book even though most of the ideas are not new, it's good to be reminded.

Surprisingly well-narrated

There's a reason audible hires professional narrators to read the books. It's always a bad sign when the author narrates the book. I'm happy that this book is the exception. I quite enjoyed the enthusiasm and passion that was obvious in the author's performance.


The material itself is nothing new to those in the FIRE community, but it's a great primer for those who are new to it. For those who are new to FIRE, I would almost suggest reading up on the habits of millionaires first, then diving into this. Otherwise, great.

Financial education made easy

I like it, was clear and dynamic, mostly conceptual but good tips for beginners on trying to achieve financial independence, It's never to late.

Highly recommended course

I found this course very interesting and I believe it would be useful to anyone striving for financial independence and early retirement. It also provides detailed analysis and calculations not only to attain your financial goals but to determine your motivation behind it, which is just as important.
There is an entire chapter on personal tax and credit record, however, which is only applicable to US residents. It might be a good alternative to also provide sample general calculations for the rest of the world.
