Publisher's summary

The enemy is everywhere. Our existence hangs by a thread.

On Earth, we’re dying; the ships have landed. On Proxima, we’re ignorant; the sabotage nearly complete. Our strongholds are routed. Our defenses crippled. Our wills are broken. Our hope is gone...or is it?

Three heroes. Two battlefronts. One desperate chance for victory.

Damnation is the exhilarating final installment of the Forgotten Vengeance series.

What an excellent end of a trilogy!

MR Forbes is an amazing author! I have enjoyed everything I have ever read or listened to of hers/his (I believe I read Forbes is a lady science fiction author) .

Her way with characters is a joy to listen to. I am huge on characterization and having characters I can relate to and make me feel as if they are family. She always accomplishes this.

Not only does she create wonderful characters, but also carries on a masterful conception and plot through multiple novels. Her imagination and creativity are immense.

You will heartily enjoy her books. Enjoy and read on.

Actually, I think the Sherrif Duke series would be great movie or even Netflix series.

I must add that another reason to buy the Audible version is RC Bray's madterful and delightful narration! Give it a listen.

Redemption for Book 2!

Book 1 was a solid 4.5 star (rounded up to 5), but Book 2 was more of a slog, and didn't live up to the promise set up by Book 1.

ENTER: BOOK 3!

Perhaps the 3rd times a charm? Or good things come in 3s? Book 2 imho flailed about and got stuck mostly on earth and the slog, rarely shifting back to Promixa or other settings. if I could put on my producer hat, I would have suggested more of the back and forth that Book 3 displayed, which kept the action fresh and wasn't too distracting by changing scenes (if that was a concern for the author). Book 1 had a little back and forth, amd was better paced than Book 2 for sure. But Book 3 fulfilled the promise set out in book 1, and had lots of action and great pacing overall. I won't give away spoilers other than this aspect, which I don't consider much of a spoiler.

Just know that if you gritted your teeth trying to get them Book 2, a let down for me after Book 1, that Book 3 is worth the ride amd you should jump in woth both feet. That hasn't always been the case even with the masterful Bray at the helm of narration (the Titan series was one such Book series that Bray did, but not even he could save it from itself, as I felt the series just kept getting worse and worse...not to put anyone else down, just to say Bray is a miracle worker for many authors lucky enough to have him narrate their works...but in the end the author and how they present their worlds, still mattes a lot). Thankfully Forbes ended with a bang and it was a satisfying end to the trilogy...while still leaving an opening for another series if he ever wanted to continue it!

ps. this was my first series from Forbes. I had some doubts after Book 2. but with the gratifying conclusion from Book 3, I raise the entire series to a solid 4.5. Book 2 kept it from being a full 5 stars. But it also tickled my interest for looking into other Forbes series...as I see sherrif Duke in at least 2 other series (and perhaps it is a continuation of this afterall? I know at least 1 was a prequel of sorts to this series, as I see summaries describing the massive ship Pilgrim, from events prior to this series). so Book 3 and this series may have me getting that one or others in Forbes' collections! Sadly, I know Bray wasn't the narrator in those...so it still gives me some pause (or is that POS? INCONCLUSIVE: yet to he determined...hah hah hah...HAH HAH! ;)

So hooked!!

These series have me locked in. I could listen to Bray or Johnathan read the newspaper. They make the words come to life. Thank you for this break from reality.

SO GREPPING GOOD!

Such an amazing conclusion to the series! So much action and twists and turns you’ll be on the edge of your seat non stop. Make sure you enjoy the outtakes/bloopers cuz they are funny as hell.

Great characters, pacing and R.C. Bray is great

Fun, fast-moving with a few new aspects for a space opera. R.C. Bray always adds to a story.

Securing humanity's liberation... for now

The options for freeing mankind from their current predicament as unwitting pawns located at the center of an epic war quickly narrows down to but one perilous path. This keeps a fast pace and a high level of action throughout the novel. Unfortunately, the author is rushing through this, and must employ the deus ex machina tool at least twice to rescue humanity from what seems to be an inevitable fate against extraterrestrial species with much greater technologies and capabilities. First, an old foe turns out to have discovered, and successfully occluded (until the right time), a devastating weapon for humanity to use. And, second, the ultimate enemy breeds a powerful offspring that independently decides that this endless war for dominance is immoral and is willing to help the humans bring it to an end. This summarizes the main problem I have with this author, he has great ideas that could be extended into a larger saga, but constantly rushes the plot along to the detriment of the development and execution.
