Publisher's Summary

Searching for a new home....

The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope.

After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

It is not the last.

When he wakes from death, William discovers that all but one crew member - Capria Dixon - is either dead at Tom's hands, or has escaped to the surface of Kepler 452b. This dire situation is made worse when Tom attacks again - and is killed. Driven mad by a rare reaction to extended cryo-sleep, Tom hacked the Galahad's navigation system and locked the ship on a faster-than-light journey through the universe, destination: nowhere. Ever.

Mysteriously immortal, William is taken on a journey with no end, where he encounters solitary desperation, strange and violent lifeforms, a forbidden love, and the nature of reality itself.

...he discovers the infinite.

Jeremy Robinson, the master of fast-paced and highly original stories seamlessly blending elements of horror, science fiction, and thrillers, tackles his most ambitious subject matter to date: reality itself. An amalgam of the works of J.J. Abrams and Ridley Scott, Infinite is a bold science fiction novel exploring the vastness of space and a man's desire to exist, find love, and alter the course of his life.

Disappointing

The narrator was very good.

SPOILER ALERT - Don't read further if you don't want an inkling of a spoiler.

The story started out strong, however, as it progressed the narrative became more like some teenage boy fantasy. Think sexy HAI robot and the geeky guy who is conveniently the last man in the universe. At that point in the tale I starting rolling my eyes. I stuck with it though hoping for the big reveal, but in the end all the story really just was a lame, teenage boy fantasy. I want those hours of my life back!

Fantastic!

This was my first experience with a Jeremy Robinson book, and I loved it! His writing style is very interesting... part pulpy fiction with sprinkles of thought provoking questions and beautiful writing made for a very entertaining journey! I liked the fact that this story clocks in at about 10 hours, enough time to develop a good story and characters, but short enough to keep the pace brisk. I’ve got several Jeremy Robinson books in my queue and can’t wait to check the rest of them out. If this work was any indication, I’m in for several great stories! R.C. Bray’s narration was top notch, and I’d definitely recommend his work as well.

WOW!

With over 250 Audible books on my library, this is one of the best. I couldn't stop listening. I'm glad I had the time all of Saturday to just enjoy it from beginning to end.

It's an amazing sci Fi adventure. Well written and well performed.

Now, I'll get some sleep. :-)

One of my favorite books!

The story moves along at the right pace and the narrator does a fantastic job. I was laughing a lot while listening to this book and it kept my attention the entire time. This should be a movie !

It doesn’t have a sophomoric love interest

Some reviews said: infantile love interest. - Not true. It invokes several traditional sci-fi tropes but with good reason. They’re explained eventually and are logical to the conclusion.
Do it. Trust the author. He’ll land this ship.

Waste of time and money. Utterly mediocre

What disappointed you about Infinite?

The premise of this book is hackneyed and trite. It tries to tackle some "big ideas" but doesn't do them justice. It lurches from scene to scene and the "surprise ending" can be spotted a mile away. There is so much better science fiction out there that there's no need to waste your time on this. It's not interesting or well written.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Maybe something by John Scalzi. Better science fiction, better ideas, better humor.

What three words best describe R.C. Bray’s performance?

Adequate. Professional. Workmanlike.

Any additional comments?

Just bad. I rarely feel compelled to write reviews, but the fact that this has so many good reviews is a real head scratcher. It's the only reason I bought it and I feel ripped off. Honestly it seems pretty fishy.

OMG! Awesome Story

This book is amazing. I honestly think this has bumped my #1 book to #3. I've found my new #1 favorite book. If you like mind bending, action, love stories that play out over time. You'll love this book. Everything was outstanding IMO. The pace, the story telling, the performance. This is a must read.

Thought provoking

Found this as listening my way through all of RC Bray’s audio performances. Loved it. Great premise, how do you live forever without going insane. Wonderfully performed by RC Bray as usual. Would totally recommend.

Insanely fast-paced!! Love it!!!! :)

It's not going to win any literary awards and... yes... there's holes in the story, but WOW! If you can imagine riding an insanely mad roller-coaster for 10 hours then you've got to listen to this. For sheer mind-bending, rip-roaring si-fi entertainment and narration from the amazing R.C.Bray this is must!

Press through to the end - skillfully written

About half way through this book I was ready to give the story 3 stars - too many inconsistencies and logical plot holes (you know - the ones that make you shout out). But I pressed on. Without giving spoilers the author has in fact managed to play with your sense of disbelief and bring you into the mind of the main protagonist, skillfully playing with your perceptions. Just when you start to think "hang on a minute" the narrative manages to distract or influence you into new avenues.

I am still not sure whether the narrative and plot techniques employed enable easy cover for sloppy plots and logical errors or whether that was always the intention to give you hints and whisps of clues. But at the end I felt like I really understood the mind of the main character and what they had been going through. The outcome / denouement was obvious in some ways but the author manages to keep you guessing and turning one way and the other. After all - what he proposes is entirely possible...

Fantastic

An incredible story spanning time and space! Although slightly predictable in some places it doesn’t take away from the fresh plot and fantastic voice acting. I didn’t want it to end!

I’ve just had my mind blown

Absolutely outstanding performance by the ever amazing R.C. Bray,

Jeremy Robinson creates an amazing story of struggle, romance, success and loss and builds a perfect world, in which you can get enveloped in, leaving you asking yourself some of the same questions.

Absolutely amazing!

This book got me hooked on Jeremy Robinson.

This was the second book I Listened to by Robinson (the first being NPC). While NPC left me Intrigued, Infinite well and truly dug its claws into me. There was something about the over arching premise of the story that reminded me of the film Passengers but past the first act the story takes an unexpected turn that left me unable to stop listening! The way Robinson paces this story it felt like I was listening to 4 sci-fi films back to back only with the ending leaving me wanting more, which apparently we will get in March as a sequal is in the works! Seriously if you like sci fi and good story telling buy this book you will not regret it!

Amazing! Can not rate this book highly enough

This is honestly without a doubt the most amazing thing I have ever listened to in my life! I have never been so amazed, thrilled and emotional about a book. The ending has me questioning my whole existence. This has me thinking about life, space and time in a completely different dimension and I’m just a dumb tractor driver lol Absolute respect to the author! I just have to say again I can not rate this book highly enough. Absolutely frothing over the experience. Please make more!!!

Not what you’d expect and had me hanging

Where to start without giving anything away?
How about so pumped with action you almost feel fatigued by the labour’s of our hero. It kept me guessing and had me questioning my theories but ultimately gratifying. This book holds a special place in my heart now and could not have been brought to life by anyone other than R C Bray. Do yourself a favor, Infinite is worth it.

it could have been a lot more

The story has good meat on it's bones, however a large part of it is simply not up to what it needs to be. our protagonist and love interest a frustratingly on sympathetic, and while it does do a good bait and switch with that, I don't feel that it was quite enough.

you're not going to find anything new or particularly groundbreaking in the story. But for what it's worth I kept reading it after putting it down several times.

Transparent

I figured out the core plot and where the hero stuffed up when it happened, so there was no surprise in the end. Just a little to predictable. I'd be interested in seeing how he gets to the next stage or step.

A mindbending virtual reality adventure

I’m reviewing Infinite after my second time listening and it is still so good! This is the first Jeremy Robinson book I ‘read’ and he is now one of my favourite authors that always seems to create an original spin on his stories even when travelling a well worn road.
RC Bray’s performance is epic as usual.
