picked up this book form audible. States that it's book 1. In reality book 4 in a series It is book 1 in the next series arch. Would have been nice if there had been something to state that. The story leaves the listener confused by half information from the previous three books. so only reader's of the series would understand the flow of the book.

Great story

To understand this book series - it really helps to read / listen to The Forgotten, The Lost, and the Sheriff Duke stories. Then you'll have the back story on Nathan Stacker, Sheriff Duke, Proxima, The Axon, The Hunger, Portals, The Trust, The Others, Pilgrim, Deliverance, and all the other stuff made mention of in casual conversation or in passing by the author.

The world MT Forbes has created is very intricate. There are lots of moving parts and perspective. it's one of my favorite and I hunger (sic) for more.

High on monsters and improbable fighting if those, low on plot and tech. Disappointing. The holes in the story is as big as the Grand Canyon. RC Bray awesome as usual.

a good listen

I really enjoyed the book and its take on futuristic combat. I think there is a little bit of everything for everyone. If you're a fan of apocalyptic literature, you will enjoy this tale.

NAILED IT

M R Forbes has created a deep universe punctuated with contrasting light made by various characters. Invasion is the beginning of the culmination of various series which I have been reading for years and I have to say it was all worth it/ The invasion series makes all of the other books feel like primers for something larger, as if I was reading for years just for this series. If you are a fan of all things Sci-fi but prefer well written and thought out series and good writing you would be an idiot not to try this!

Quite confusing

I enjoyed the story, although there are so many different races and beings involved that it is hard to work out who is who for much of the novel. A prequel would be worthwhile.

Great series in the "forgotten universe "

It might be confusing if you don't read the previous books. This is the latest story in the "Forgotten Universe " I highly recommend reading the previous books (first). The Sheriff is my favorite character! RC Bray is always awesome!

only narrator made it possible to get through

normally like sci fi but this was confusing right from start. kept thinking things would be explained better but never happened. only RC Bray made it possible for me to get through it. very disappointing.

Very weak ending.

Story moves at a slow pace. Author try's to use over the top action to move the story along. Saving my time and avoiding the rest of the series

Loved it!

Ended on a bit of a cliff hanger - Looking forward to the next book! As always, incomparable narration by RC Bray.

Mr Forbes, you're a sadistic, cunning, sneaky SOB! Loved the book! Was glued to it from start to finish! The cliffhanger had me shouting at my phone! I just hope that book 2 comes out soon or I'll be tearing my beard out!

To the Lord Bray! You did it again dude! Another reason why I love hearing you narrate! You know how to create the right atmosphere, how to draw us in to a crazy psychotic situation! Sir, you're a legend!

Too confusing to me

Not so bad, that I would return the title but very confusing to me. Starts without any intro, lots of characters and alien races. Hard to piece them together and remember. Not going to buy the next book in series.

this is a continuation of a previous series

not much makes sense if you have not read the previous series but this marked as book 1. big waste of money

Big Fun .Great Yarn !!

A Great...."read"... I found the story a little bit complex to come to grips with, but it got so much easier as it's parts and bits started to come together. I am moving on to the next book in this series in the keen hope of being just as entertained by it as much as I was by this one.. Well Done !!

Weak story

Great performance from Mr. Bray as always, but very weak story that failed to grab me. Felt like a new monster alien gets introduced whenever the story starts to fall flat and I really can't get to grips with the setup, that feels false and contrived.

a puddle depth of writing. no depth to characters no real story, poor mr Bray was expected to turn fetal matter in to gold...

Interesting concept

really well read , wild west meets star wars, really nasty baddies, not sure who are the goodies yet.must get the 2nd installment.

R. C. Is great as always... I feel like a bit of a stalker sometimes. Now go record the next Ex Force already Mr Bray! Give Craig a kick up the butt if necessary. 🤣

I will be getting the next book in this series though as I really do like the background that's been built and the way the characters are portrayed. Just hope the rest of the series are longer!

Gripping Story

Throughly enjoyed this first book into, hopefully an equally great series. Superbly narrated (as usual). I look forward to listening to book 2.
