Publisher's summary

With his expert teachings, philosophical insights, and pragmatic imagery, world-class yoga instructor Tias Little turns the anatomy of the physical body into a tool for navigating the subtle body.

If you spend considerable time doing yoga, you begin to see that it is about much more than just the body - the practice of yoga in fact reveals that the body is in no way separate from the pyschospiritual forces that animate it. Tias Little here provides a way to understand these forces as they relate to an integrated yoga of body, mind, and spirit. He unites somatic concepts and wisdom teachings in this practical guide to the anatomy of the physical, mental, emotional, and subtle (or energetic) body.

Little is a master teacher who offers us a guided tour of the body's structure and physical anatomy, then uses this new structural awareness as the basis for exploring the subtle body. In a meaningful and pragmatic way, the book maps the connection between the body and the rich symbolism that pervades the yogic imagination, including the chakras, nadis, and koshas. Further, Little offers listeners clear, insightful yoga, pranayama, and meditation exercises that apply these body-mind principles.

A valuable book that needs re-recording

I downloaded this book after being told from some in my yoga teacher training cohort that they found it valuable. While the content itself is valuable and pairs well with what I'm learning about physical therapy, anatomy, and yoga, the narrator completely detracts from the content. The tone is all wrong, for one. The mispronunciation of terms is inexcusable, for another.

Remarkable really

One of the more lucid explainations of yoga anatomy. Focus on modern anatomy and thought provoking visuals, your imagination is provoked and you literally begin to feel the author's discriptions. Beautiful book

Deep stuff for deep people

Tias presented to me in a course online and I was immediately intrigued. Manifesting in book form he does not disappoint. No previous knowledge of Yoga needed, but a willingness to experiment and physically try his suggestions is helpful. Up to date I have not read or heard a synthesis of ideas as internally focused yet outwardly integrated.

Enjoy it!

Great Content - Strange Narration

This work is for a very specific audience - and the content is wonderful. I am learning a lot and am grateful for the teachings of Tias Little in general.
I have found the narration of this work to be very distracting. The narrator places emphasis on words in a rather strange way and some terminology is inaccurately pronounced. It sounds as though the narrator had not previously read the work prior to recording and so consequently, there is an odd pace to the narration.
This may be a very personal preference and I am very grateful that this audiobook is available but have had to try to 'manage' my frustration at times when listening - which I feel is a great shame, given the quality of expertise shared by the author.

Poor pronunciation of an excellent book

While the book, writing and Tias Little's knowledge of Yoga and anatomy are all masterful, the pronunciation was abysmal. Not only were many Sanskrit terms unintelligible, the pronunciation was so butchered, It would require prior knowledge of the real pronunciation to know what the original word was. Even some anatomical and some English words were mispronounced. I have the hard copy but wanted to have audio book to deepen my understanding on a more subtle level. Sadly, the pronunciation jolted me out of the teaching and the flow of the book like fingernails on a chalkboard.

the next level

The information and practices for accessing and nurturing the subtle body will forever change the way I practice and teach yoga. My only wish is that someday, Tias himself will read the book out loud, as his voice and presence would add so much to the teaching and instruction...
