Warning: one dirty-talking detective and one feisty crime lab technician collide in the second installment to the sizzling NOLA Heart series! Mixing business with pleasure just got a little hotter down in the Big Easy...

Nathan Danvers has cultivated a certain, sexy reputation among the ladies in New Orleans. As a former marine and current detective for the New Orleans PD, Nathan is just fine with being the guy women take home to bed, but not the guy they take home to meet the parents. It’s exactly what he wants - until he spots the black-haired beauty, Jade.

Jade Harper is over men. After four years too many with her ex, she’s ready for a fresh start. Goodbye Miami; hello New Orleans. Everything is perfect, including her new job with the NOPD - until she meets Nathan Danvers. Jade isn’t looking for Mr. Right - hell, she’s not even looking for Mr. Right Now - but this hot cop has a way of blurring the lines between lust and love. Will he tempt her to take a chance? Or will the shadows lingering in Nathan's dark eyes prove that some closely guarded secrets are better left hidden?

Loved it!

I absolutely loved this story! Both characters were great, and the love story unfolded perfectly. There is just enough push and pull to keep you in edge waiting for their big moment!

I also loved the mystery woven effortlessly into the story. I loved playing detective right along with them and trying to figure out who did it.

The narration was really well done. Once I started listening, I was hooked! I can't wait to read the rest of this series!

Amateurish at best

The original premise was okay, but the execution was awful.

Why I couldn't finish this book:
1. Poorly written story
2. Lousy narrator

Cute series

Two previously-hurt ppl who are determined to protect their hearts, fight the inevitable...having an HEA. Throw in a Cuban mother, nosy sisters, and a murder investigation and it’s a recipe for laughter, a few tears and steamy moments.

A Southerner with a Brooklyn accent

I enjoyed the book, however I was really bugged by the New Orlean's main character and family having a Brooklyn accent. At first I was confused but then at one point the author wrote that Nathan said something in his fine New Orleans accent... And out came a Brooklyn accent... I just shook my head. It was still an enjoyable listen though. I just had to make the mental shift.
