SWEET ROMANCE BUT THERE'S A SECRET PAST TO REVEAL

Charlotte (aka Charlie) needs to disappear quickly and she does it in New Orleans and now with a new look, a new job and a new identity she has finally found her true self working in a Tattoo Shop. One year in and late one night a Bachelor Party come staggering in and that's when she meets the gorgeous Simon. Simon is instantly captivated by the tattooed, dark haired beauty with colored streaks in her hair but is it the booze clouding his mind. So he returns the next day to find out that she was even more breathtaking but he can't get her to say yes to a date..... until persistency, a lack of Charlie's willpower and a terrible accident brings them together. But Charlie has secrets that could harm Simon's political career, she's a closed book and sooner or later her past is going to catch up with her and it's just a case of when and at what price.

I usually go for bad boys and Simon is anything but that, he's thoughtful, kind, caring, understanding and doesn't pressurise Charlie for answers and I loved him for that. It was Charlie who was keeping secrets and, as usual, they're kept too long with devastating results. There's no surprises for the listener as Charlie's past life is told from the start but it's a lovely romance that unfolds between two likeable characters who deserve each other. There's romantic times, sexy times and heartbreaking confusing times and the worst enemy is Charlie's self doubt..... well that and her family and the F.B.I.

Worth a credit? Dual POV's, good narration and a story that I couldn't wait to get back to so, IMO, that all makes for a nice creditworthy listen.

It's okay

Narrators- female voice is good. Male voice was distracting. He doesn't match the image. His voice makes u think of a smaller dude. U picture this tall hunk out of the navy & then his voice comes out & my picture morphs lol ... like Hugh Jackson to Michael j fox..
Other then that it was ok.

Story- it was ok. Not nail biting or I can't put the book down. Predictable yet feel good. I wouldn't spend a credit on it tho I would wait for a discount.

Refreshing story

Original storyline and great setting, I liked how the "good girl falls for bad boy" roles where somewhat reversed without being all too black or white. The writing was fluid and the characters well developed, making it simple to embrace their circumstances and empathize. I appreciated less of the typical and sometimes overplayed internal monologues and enjoyed how the secondary characters (including the lovely Huck) enhanced the narrative.

Holter Graham wasn't my favorite narrator, his pace was too slow and I didn't particularly like how he would sometimes go to extremes: either whispering/mumbling or being super loud and intense. I adore Andi Arndt, the way she approaches her characters with such easiness always makes it effortless for me to identify with them.

Wonderful start to a great series!

I loved this book! It seams that lately most books I've listened to have been over the top on the angst. This one has just the right amount. The narration is really good. Has a great HEA. Can be read as a stand alone but is the beginning of a great series. This one is credit worthy!

Andi was lovely but the male narrator ruined it

Would you listen to Beneath This Mask again? Why?

never - andi has such a beautiful raspy voice but the male narrator was absolutely terrible ... couldn't finish it

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Andi Arndt and Holter Graham ?

Andi Arndt and Sebastian York

Five Stars ~ All The Way!

Wow! What a wonderful love story! I agree with all the positive reviews! Don't know why I was so skeptical about starting this series, but Meghan March has made a believer out of me. I'm definitely on board with rest of the series!

Andi and Holter both did fantastic job on the narration!

Well worth the credit!

Meghan March has done it!!

I loved this book. Loved the fact that everytime I thought I had guessed what was going to happen next I was pleasantly surprised that I was dead wrong. I love a book that will keep me on my toes and keep me guessing. The narrator was amazing and draws you directly into the story and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Great female narrator! BAD male narrator!

This story was decent enough. Not a pager turner, can't stop listening story. Just okay. I did not care for the dual first person POV.

I liked Charlie, and her story, I liked her character. I did get a little annoyed with the fact that she wanted to know all about Simon and his secrets but she wouldn't tell any of hers.
The chemistry between them was good. They had lots and lots of sex. So be prepared. I found myself fast forwarding/skimming most of those scenes after the first two. It was just too much, I liked the story portion more than the sex portion of the story.

Simon was likable for the most part, but for some reason I felt like he was sometimes too weak of a male hero for her.

As for the narration:
Holter Graham was really bad. So bad, I couldn't stand it when he started talking. He did the female's voice better than he did the hero's voice. Crazy right?! Its true. He did not do this book or this character any favors at all.

Andi Ardnt was great. I give her 5 stars for sure. She did a great job. Her male voice was so much better than the actual male narrator. That's pretty bad. I would have liked this book so much better had she narrated the whole thing. I also think it would have been a better story NOT written in the first person with Dual POV.

I love that there were two narrator.

I really appreciated the swap of male & female voices. What impressed me was the chemistry between Charlotte/Simon. He's the perfect heroin!!! Awesome book.

Good story, horrible male narrator

I really liked this book. The story was different than your average contemporary romance novel. As usual I love Andi Arnt but I couldn't stand the male narrator, he couldn't do a female voice to save his life. But I'm assuming this was realized since the rest of the series is Andi and fan favorite Sebastian York.
