The narrative of the Korean War in the West, and particularly in the United States, tells the tale of a conflict between two global superpowers and competing ideologies in a far-flung corner of the globe. The reality is that the wheels of motion that drove the country to war in 1950 began turning long before American boots set foot on Korean soil. The heart of the conflict was a civil war between a population arbitrarily divided by colonization and the global geopolitics at the end of the Second World War.
The Haitian Revolution was a slave rebellion that began in 1791 in the French colony of Saint-Domingue, now known as Haiti. This is the real Zen, beautifully and simply explained, as Zen is intended to be. You will find here no complex academic and/or theoretical frameworks, as these have nothing to do with Zen. Thank you, author, for this illuminating book.
This book presents Zen Buddhism as a form of personal therapy. The author actually says, "Our Zen training is designed to enable us to live comfortable lives.
My words would not do justice to this book. All I can say is that it has been one of the most down to earth books I have read about Zen.
It is really a great book if you want to know more about Zen and not feel like you have to struggle through every page to understand what the author is saying.
This book opened my eyes. It is explained in a simple language when I listen to it I felt like the author was talking to me and all I had to do was kick back and listen.
One of my preferred intro to mindfulness works. I give it as a gift to friends and family. Check it out
The author has a great way to bring you into her thoughts and ideas and make it understandable. This is the best book on Zen I have ever encountered.
I really liked this book. Lots of great penetrations and practical advice into the practice of Zen. Beck puts things simply. It is easy to follow and understand.
I've read a bunch of books on Zen and on other lineages and looked through a bunch more, and this is really the one that has spoken to me the most, by far. It's specific, wise, relevant, and somehow just usually brings things home in a way that others don't.
