Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts enchants listeners with this time-traveling romance about one man torn between his own time and the woman he loves in the past.

Stranded in the present, time traveler Caleb Hornblower's biggest problem isn't returning to the twenty-third century - but falling head over heels for the beguiling Liberty Stone, who shows him a love more powerful than time itself. Though Caleb knows he belongs in the future, how can he leave the past, and Liberty, behind?

So far so good

If I had one complaint it's the love scenes, which are overboard and unrealistic, IMO. I like Nora's stories and imagination, which is why I listen, but all the smut talk is distracting and not necessary for a great story.....come on, Nora......stop the perverted and overboard ......we get it....

boring story, terrible characters

i usually love the nice easy plots, this was terribly boring. Libby was so mindless, cal was no better. nothing to this book, and the narrator sometimes sounds like he's choking on something while reading.

Oi Veh--

Up front--I got this book because a writing critique group partner said Nora Roberts would be the best writer I could listen to to really grasp the genre--
So I thought: Nora Roberts, okay. Book with time travel in it? Even Better!
It has, as my friend told me, ALL the plot points that publishers of the genre require at EXACTLY the time markers required: Instant attraction ("Eyes to die for", "Gorgeous velvet eyes"), flashes of flesh almost immediately (A dropped towel), etc. etc. "It's not about the plot," my friend said, "it's about the love."
Okay, but that doesn't mean you get a pass on character development, development of conflict. Libby is a flat person who gives up on her interests almost immediately, and Cal spends waaaay too much time absorbed in daytime TV. Plus, they don't even confront the time differential until almost three hours into the book, so where's the conflict?
The time difference? There's almost no slang usage that suggests centuries of difference, spaceship tables are made of Lucite, a watch is a computer.
Basically, this is two people who meet, are instantly sexually attracted, find a couple of things to laugh about and figure it's true love. And, oh! The obligatory angry sex scene which is actually rape.
Luke Daniels, who I usually like, does a surprisingly good voice for Libby, but Cal comes off sounding like a cheesy anchorman.
If you like Light Read Lite, this is for you. Anything else, and well, I just don't know.
The thing that Libby was attracted to, I think, was that sometimes it's easiest to love a man when you know he's going to get off your sofa soon...

Awful!

Let's start with the performance.
Why did they select this guy to read this book? Having him read it was creepy, since his voice sounded very "uncle-ish", and it wasn't appropriate for a romance novel.
On to the story.
Completely implausible, not the time travel, but the idea that a woman would let a guy into her house (in the WILDERNESS) without any concern about the fact that he "handsy" and doesn't have any respect for her personal space?!
I had to stop at the very moment that he said "I can't take it anymore, I must have you!"
Noooooooope.

I'm about 2/3 way through, and I just can't finish this. Ugh

Ugh! Maybe if I were in fifth grade I would be drawn into this story. But between the over-enunciated narration, the time travel premise, and the love at first sight and every-other-page passion scenes, it's just too much. Don't bother!

Well, I made it through it

I am not opposed to well written sex scenes....but this book was mostly sex, and mostly sweet, sappy, poorly written sex. However, maybe I'm just jaded and tired of beautiful virgins who don't know that they are beautiful: and, I'm tired of the male perspective being written by women, as if men think the same as women do. They don't. I have worked with large crews of men, and been the only female most of the time: I have been married for over 30 years. I love men, but they simply don't think about women in the way that most women think they do ,or want them to.

I liked the premise, though it could have been better developed. It was under 3 dollars and I made it through, if I had used a credit, I would have returned it.

I don't think that I will get another by this author.

I love this story!

I dont know how many times I've read & now listened to these two stories & imagined how I would feel & act if I was the girl in them. Its just the right amount of romance & passion. This is simply a good story (or stories if you want to separate them). If you like romance & time travel, you will like these!

Time Was SWEET

I am finding myself reading more of Nora Roberts’s books more often. She tends to surprise me. Caleb Hornblower (weird name choice) was aggressive and loving. Liberty needed someone to force her out of her shell. I think the author did a great job of showing the characters true nature and flaws and showed how you can learn for others, despite of that. I enjoyed the book, especially the happy ending.

luke daniels rocks

I read authors just because Luke Daniels is their narrator. I've always enjoyed a good Nora Roberts book and this one did not disappoint
