Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a compelling story about love's softening effects on even the most guarded of hearts.

The first time single father Spence Kimball set eyes on Natasha Stanislaski, he was floored by her exotic beauty. But the former ballet dancer turned toy shop owner had a fiery temperament that kept men safely at bay. Sensing a hidden wound, Spence and his little girl joined forces to find a way into her closely guarded heart. For Spence realized he'd do anything to tame Natasha's fears...and show her how to love.

Meh!

So when a narrator can't do a male voice it can make or break the story. Christina Traisters female voices were just ok in this book but the male lead sounded slow and dim witted. That, my friends can ruin a story in a hurry. This story itself was slow and it was hard at times to keep my attention. Sorry, but I'd skip this one. Use your credit on any Susan Elizabeth Phillips "Chicago Stars" series book and you'll understand what I'm saying about GREAT narration making a book come to life!

A classic Nora Roberts love story...fun & well written!

I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a interesting love story with excellent character development. This isn't one of her mysteries or romantic suspense novels but it's a fun story with excellent characters that you grow to care about quickly.

I thought sweet wonderful romance

I understand some of the reviews are upset because Nora typically plots some type of mystery but I find comfort in this sweet and simple story.

It wasn't overly sexual didn't have a lot of the typical a morale things that one finds in today's contemporary romance.

A little raunchiness is fun to read about every now and then, but so also is wholesomeness.

One can find passion in both the erotic and the more innocent.

I really liked the depth of this story, and the characters rang true. I will continue with the series.

Predictable, but still a nice listen

An Americanized immigrant toy shop owner meets a widowed father who has a charming daughter. A love story ensues. The characters are likable and the evolution of the story is predictable. That said, it was an easy listen and I enjoyed it.

Not bad, but not great

I think it’s important to remember this book is 31 years old. It was written when our Beloved Nora Roberts wasn’t the polished, exceptional writer she is now. In a time when no didn’t always mean no. Before Me Too. BUT I still think the bones of the story are good. I like the characters.

I do agree, however, that the performer was a little obvious with the accents.

It's Nora Roberts

I enjoyed the book... I almost gave it a four star but really not one of her best. Basic storyline with a few twists but really basic stuff.

It did take me awhile to get passed the narrators attempt at a Russian accent but it grew on me.

If your looking for a quick no brainer listen, this will work for you.

This is one of my all time fav from Nora Roberts. It's about my 5th or so time reading this book except this time I listened it in audio format. A very beautiful and touching story.
