Publisher's Summary

Holly Garrett was in trouble. The stranger who'd saved her from a storm was not asking for her help. And he was inviting her to live with him. She could cook for him, and bathe him, but nothing had prepared her for the glances he threw her way.

Questionable classification

I bought this book hoping for a nice Christmas story, even if it was to be one of those too sweet romances. I think maybe it should be placed under Erotica. The 28 year old virgin is made out to be totally stupid and the descriptive "deflowering" of her just doesn't get it for a "christmas" story. It just goes on and on about how innocent she is and descriptive sex. Throughly disappointed. Waste of money even if one wants to hear about the sex.

Holly and Mistletoe

Another amazing read from Ms. Mallery. The narrator wasn't as good as Therese Plummer, but she wasn't bad either.

SO SORRY

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Lack of repeating Holly's sad stories about mother's illness, 15 year old boyfriend, etc.

What could Susan Mallery have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Added more emphasis on the main characters - Jordan was ok but Holly, even though a 28 year old virgin should have had a little more sophistication

What didn’t you like about Eliza Foss’s performance?

She was really flat; male voices were not very good

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Always love a happy ending

Any additional comments?

Not a Susan Mallory winner

Are my ears bleeding?

I don't know why I even finished this book, but I wish I didn't waste my time. Luckily I didn't waste my money as it is part of the Audible Romance Package. This book had potential to be good. It reminds me of the Mallory family from Johanna Lindsay except the characters are horrible instead of awesome. There is a big family of brothers that made me want to go and read all of their love stories but since this story was so horrible I don't think I will be doing that. What made this story so terrible was the main Character, Holly. She was supposed to be an innocent 28 year old virgin, but the author took it too far. She was too naive and stupid. She couldn't get over that she was 15 pounds overweight and thought she was too fat. Which is not good for anyone's self esteem and she was so clueless about men in general I just couldn't connect to her. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes at how ridiculous she was. She was the opposite of a strong female character. Not all virgins are so immature. She had special circumstances as to why she was so old to be a virgin, but still why was she so immature?

Again, what a difference a voice makes!

I’ve listened to almost all Susan Mallory’s books on audio. This performance is so bad I gave up after 4 chapters. The story seemed fine, I just could not handle this narrator any longer.

Insipid

Had to stop - couldn't finish this story. An immature read. No complexity or depth.

Very disappointing book and narration

What disappointed you about Holly and Mistletoe?

The entire story line was a vast disappointment. Not worth what I paid for it. But it got lost in the several books I bought and it is too late to return it.

What was most disappointing about Susan Mallery’s story?

The entire story line is beneath what I have read in other books from her. Did she allow someone to write it and then use her name as author?

Would you be willing to try another one of Eliza Foss’s performances?

Absolutely NOT. She sounds like she is falling asleep in the first chapter. Then her entire tone through out the book is really either falling asleep or trying to be sensual, which she is NOT.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger for purchasing it.

Any additional comments?

This book is really the worst book I have ever tried to listen to. It is too late to return it or I would. I purchased it during a very busy time and it just got lost in the shuffle. Never again will I allow this to happen. The author, Susan Mallery should personally return the money I paid for the book to me with her apologies.

Why oh why did I finish

Horribly predictable, not particularly interesting, definitely not a heartwarming Christmas story nor a particularly good romance. Okay, the typical romance book isn't my cup of tea anyway, but on occasion I run across one I take a chance on and enjoy; this was just painful. The narrator was okay. The sex scenes really seemed out of place. I don't know why I bought it and I certainly don't know why I listened to the whole thing.

Fireman's rescue of cat brings unexpected ending

Would you listen to Holly and Mistletoe again? Why?

Yes because it was very enjoyable to listen to and a fun, light romance. Not an overpoweringly sexy story but well done.

What did you like best about this story?

Mistletoe, the cat was a big part of the story and her reaction to her rescuer made life very difficult for him since she ended up living in his home. She seemed to like the rest of his family just fine but had problems with him. Made his romantic feelings for Holly more difficult since she managed to be where she was in the way a lot.

Which scene was your favorite?

I think the scene where his family went around singing (off key) Christmas Carols. It was a funny scene.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot while listening to this story. It was very lighthearted and just plain fun.

Sweet story

A sweet story with a predictable plot. What better to read during the holiday period when our mind turns to good things. Although the plot was predictable and the reader knows what was going to happen, it was still enjoyable.
