Subject: You're a flippin' idiot

Good morning, my dear, naive friend.

I hope you're enjoying a breakfast of regret and sorrow.

Why?

Because you sent me to work for Dean Harper, aka a control freak in a tailor-made suit. Sure, he owns the trendiest restaurants in NYC, but c'mon, Jo. His ego makes Kanye West look like the Dalai Lama.

He's the type of guy who hears the word "no" only when it's followed by "don't stop".

Working for Dean Harper would be like selling my soul to the devil...and before you say anything, I don't care if the devil has punch-you-in-the-gut brown eyes and an ass to match. My soul isn't for sale.

Regretfully yours,
Lily

Please note: The Allure of Dean Harper is a standalone contemporary romance from USA Today best-selling author R. S. Grey with overlapping characters from The Allure of Julian Lefray. Both books can be listened to separately.

Not Grey's Best

Some of Grey's work is fantastic (A Place in the Sun), but I don't know what happened here. The book feels so juvenile and as if Grey just slapped something together. The characters are so unlikable and annoying, and the book is predictable and far from believable. Sara, the female narrator, has a voice like nails on a chalkboard. Skip this book!

Didn't like this one

I really enjoyed The Fortunate Ones, also written by this author, but I stopped this one with an hour left and just didn't care what happened. I didn't like the characters, and frankly they didn't seem to like each other. Immature behavior and absurd situations (accidentally being mistaken for a dancer and having to perform at a strip club - eye roll), derailed any opportunity to forgive the shallow relationship and arrogance of this "couple".
Aside from the vapid storyline, the narrators were not enjoyable to listen to. The male read very quickly as if rushing to finish and the female's accents were annoying and sometimes forgotten mid sentence.
Not sure I'll try another by this author.

Most irritating female voice I have ever heard

This story was terrible and unrealistic. I should have loved the story the male lead was from Iowa like myself and it was about restaurants and I am a HUGE foodie as in I have a food science degree and am a product developer. However this story was a waste of time and completely fell flat for me. The female lead was a total bitch. The author tried to play her off as a strong woman but she came off as a stubborn bitch to me. Usually I sympathize with the female when things go wrong but this time I just shook my head. The story only got worse as I listened and to top it off the female voice was like listening to Fran Drescher

AWFUL NARATION

The female narration of this book was so annoying! I did not last two minutes into the book and that includes the introduction. The story might be good but I can’t stand to listen to her speak.

Disappointing

I've enjoyed pretty much everything I've read from this author. This book is the exception. The overall story has a decent premise but it seems cobbled together; reusing the same words and phrases. "Smirk" is used 50 times in this book. This became the key word to forward to the next chapter when the whiny, shallow bitch (heroine) used it. The female audio was cringe worthy. Aaron Roberts did well as the male narrator and was actually the only redeeming quality of this book. This book is not worth the listen.

normally i love her books

the main female character really annoyed me. I got tired of the going from being a major B**** to the biggest cry baby ever.

Too bad about the narrator

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. Read it perhaps but not listen to it. The female narrator got a shrieky, loud and whiney voice that says everything but smart.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Nothing special.

How could the performance have been better?

Change female narrator.

Could you see The Allure of Dean Harper being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Perhaps nick zano and Brooklyn decker.

Dean & Lily are two forces of nature!

Hot & hilarious and Loved every minute of it! There's a thin line between love and hate - and when Dean & Lily cross that line there is an explosion.... In more ways than one! =)

Female voice

I just couldn’t finish this because of the female narrator.
Painful.
Sorry. Just not possible.

Over the top Shrieking

Love the series, and the story line ! Lily, the main female character in this one...beyond tolerable over reactive, agressive and angry dialogue made listening impossible :(
