Publisher's summary

It’s simple: Noah Peterson and I are enemies. Our fellow teachers know it, our friends know it—even the Starbucks drive-through lady knows it since every Monday she scrawls the name A. Hole for me on Noah’s cappuccino when I pick up the weekly group order.

The shrill whine of the school bell announces the start of each day’s no-holds-barred grudge match. Since neither of us is looking to get fired or thrown in prison, we war with our words and our wits. We prefer banter that bites. All day, I’m on edge, looking around every corner, expecting him to do his worst. Just when I think I can’t take the sight of his (regretfully) handsome face for one more minute, the school day is done.

Summer usually offers the sweetest relief—a two-month Noah detox—but not this year.

“We need two volunteers to chaperone a group of eighth-graders in Rome” becomes a game of chicken neither one of us is willing to lose. We both want that bonus check.

“Back out,” I tell him.

“Scared?” he taunts.

No one thinks it’s a good idea for us to go to Rome together, least of all me. Taking this battle abroad will only lead to mayhem and misery.

Ding. Ladies and gentlemen of flight UA447 with service to Rome, fasten your seatbelts.

We’re bound to have a bumpy ride.

R.S. Grey is Always Perfection

Unsurprisingly, this was absolutely wonderful. Rachel’s stories and humor continue to get better and better. I love that I always semi- know what to expect because I can always choose one of her novels when I need a feel good love story. This was no exception and I loved hearing about Rome from Audrey’s perspective!

The story is fun, the narration could use some work.

Audrey and Noah, two middle school teachers, have been engaged in a fierce feud since the day they first crossed paths. However, fate has cast them together as chaperones for an 8th-grade class trip to Rome, forcing them to spend an extended period of time in each other's presence. The unfamiliar surroundings of a foreign country might just serve as the catalyst for their hidden feelings to emerge or finally drive each other absolutely insane…or both?

✨Thoughts✨
Who doesn't want to go to Rome and experience adventure and love? I do!

This book was hilarious and adorable. The banter between Avery and Noah was hysterical. R.S Grey's vivid descriptions transported me to Rome, making me feel as if I were right there, soaking in every sight.

All in all, this is a must-read for anyone who loves enemies-to-lovers.

The narration was not very appealing, I recommend to read the book.

Slow and steady not a winner

R.S. Grey is one of my favorite romance authors but this was my least favorite of her books. The story drags, with a lot of repeating the same idea. There were a few great moments, but not very many laugh out loud parts, which I have come to expect. Most of her titles are in my favorites list to listen to again, but I barely made it through this story once. The female narrator did okay, but I was disappointed that 2 narrators are listed when the male narrator only voices the epilogue-feels a little false to me. The description should be one narrator with a guest appearance by the second narrator or something like that. I wouldn’t recommend spending a credit on this one.

Well that was a big flop.

This one fell pretty flat. I LOVE RS Grey, but did not love this one. The Italy component was great and I liked the history tidbits. The female MC was really annoying (and never really became endearing) and the male MC lacked character depth. Not the RS Grey I feel like I know and adore. I finished it only out of respect to Rachel (almost a dnf SO many times but pushed myself to keep going). Bummed. :(

Skip This One

I really wanted to like this book because I have loved all of Rachel‘s previous audio books. I could not get into this one. One reason is because the book was entirely written in Audrey‘s POV. The details trick you into thinking that you were going to get both POVs, but Noah doesn’t even speak until the very end of the second epilogue. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to an audiobook of Rachel’s where you only hear one side.

Another reason why I had a hard time with this audiobook is because the woman narrating Audrey’s voice sounded so shrilly that she was very hard to listen to. It wasn’t relaxing at all, and she actually hurt my ears. That’s not even saying how much I couldn’t stand the character of Audrey. I have always loved enemy to lovers romance novels, but Audrey was just annoying as all get out. She acted like a middle school girl instead of a grown adult who is supposed to lead by example. Noah should have a run far away from her.

I’m disappointed because I am a fan of this author and I have loved all her audiobooks. I wouldn’t waste a credit on this one. Just read the book, and save your ears from a painful experience.
