Publisher's Summary

Sam: I can read women better than any blueprint. I understand their secret desires and insecurities, and I know how to get rid of them once I get off. But all bets are off when Tiel Desai slams into my life. I can't read the gorgeous conservatory-trained violinist, but she's the only one keeping me from shattering by small degrees, and I can't let her go.

Tiel: My past - and New Jersey - are far behind me, and now my life is blissfully full of music: playing, teaching, and lecturing and scouring Boston's underground scene with an annoyingly beautiful, troubled, tattooed architect. I'm defenseless against his rooftop kisses and his deep, demanding voice. I have Sam Walsh stuck in my head like a song on repeat, and I'm happy pretending that history won't catch up with me.

"Emotionally Charged, Funny and Uber Sexy!"

So far, this is my favorite book in the series. Something about Sam's story and his health issues resonated with me. Sam, the misunderstood playboy meets his other half in Teil in an unlikely place. Both of them.him similar barriers and work to heal each other. At least on the surface.

What I loved most about this story was that I felt the ache in my heart during the climax. I knew it was coming, but the development and the unraveling of their journey gave me tears. Of course there is an HEA, but getting there was the best part.

What can I say about the performance? Lucy Rivers always gives me the feels with. her delivery, pacing and tone and Christian Fox's voice is like melted chocolate. This is one duo I can listen to all day!

    "I LOVE this series!!!"

I love how real this series is. I feel like these characters would be amazing to hang out with in real life. it really doesn't seem like they are fictional, they feel like real people. I love Sam and Tiel, while not my absolute favorites, they are great in their own right. I have read all the current books in the series so it's nice to be able to listen to them while I work or cook now.

if you haven't given this series a chance, please do. Kate is an amazing author and these are great characters with real substance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

"My First Audible and I Loved"
What made the experience of listening to Necessary Restorations the most enjoyable?

Christian Fox's voice was swoon worthy. I loved Lucy Rivers voice as well, but oh the feels Christian gave me. I could listen to him read the phone book.

What other book might you compare Necessary Restorations to and why?

None, since this was my first venture into Audibles.

What about Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers ’s performance did you like?

Their story telling was beautiful to hear. Even when they would change their voice from male to female and vice versa it flowed and worked.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I don't know, but I could get back to you on this.

    "I was completely charmed!"
Would you listen to Necessary Restorations again? Why?

Yes, the two narrators were excellent, and I really enjoyed the story's pacing and the character development for both Tiel and Sam. I have nothing but praise for the audio production and the well executed plot.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sam. I have a soft spot for OCD and germaphobic characters because I can identify with them 100%.

Which character – as performed by Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers – was your favorite?

Sam. Again because both narrators had great voices for each character but for Sam in particular and also because I liked the way Sam's mind worked.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Embrace your perviness!

    Any additional comments?

This was my first novel by Kate Canterbary, and it certainly won't be my last. Now I'm also incredibly curious about Sam's other siblings. Consequently, a complete series read is a must. I'm also putting narrators Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers on my list of MUST-LISTEN narrators.

"My Favorite in the Series so far!"

I'm already officially a Walsh fan, but this couple is my favorite so far. Yes, this complicated, caring family are so authentic but these two are the quirkiest of the bunch. And I love that they aren't at all perfect. Thier story is as unique as them, with laugh aloud moments and crazy sad times. I recommend listening to this book. It's so good as an audiobook with two strong narrators.

I review for the Guilty Indulgence Review Site.

    "True love from the start!"

I loved Sam & Tiel’s story. More smart, sexy writing from Ms. Canterbary! There is so much emotion packed into this book, but there are also so many funny, hot, and swoony moments too.

Christian & Lucy do a wonderful job as narrators. A 5-star audio of a 5-star book!

    "Un-Necessary Roughness"

While the writing and narration was excellent, the sexual violence in Necessary Restorations was totally unnecessary and misogynistic.

The story started with such promise; two sad and lonely people meet in an elevator and bring out the best in each other. There were some great moments as Sam and Tiel slowly opened up and become friends, despite the fact that they had both been emotionally and/or physically abused by their parents.

Unfortunately, the moment they start having sex, Sam turns into a violent asshole who got sexually excited by hitting and degrading Tiel. Perversely, Tiel lost her strong & sassy personality as she allowed the domestic abuse to confirm her worse fear: that she was not lovable or valuable to anyone she loved.

The most ironic scene in the book: when Sam counseled Tiel to confront her family about the way they mistreat her. Of course, Sam gave this advice right after he beat and battered Tiel's body, evidently not appreciating the absurdity of his words vs. his actions. After suffering severe abuse from his father, it make no sense that Sam would enjoy hurting someone else.

Kate Canterbary did an exemplary job of romanticizing domestic violence, sneaking bits of abuse into an otherwise entertaining novel. Hopefully in the future, Kate will write stories about non-violent men who actually like & admire women and confident females who don't take shit from anyone.
