Publisher's Summary

She was unmarried, untouched, and almost 30, but novelist Amanda Briars wasn't about to greet her next birthday without making love to a man. When he appeared at her door, she believed he was her gift to herself, hired for one night of passion. Unforgettably handsome, irresistibly virile, he tempted her in ways she never thought possible . . . but something stopped him from completely fulfilling her dream.

Jack Delvin's determination to possess Amanda became greater when she discovered his true identity. But gently-bred Amanda craved respectability more than she admitted, while Jack, the cast-off son of a nobleman and London's most notorious businessman, refused to live by society's rules. Yet when fate conspired for them to marry, their worlds collided with a passionate force neither had expected . . . but both soon craved.

Contains mature themes.

Fell in love with the characters...and the story.

I've read every one of LK's books....many many times. This one took a couple tries to get into. Beverly Crick's voice as a story teller is a bit maudlin for me. BUT her character voices in this book were amazingly well done. Jack's voice was especially appealing to me. LK is a very talented author who draws readers/listeners into the story and holds us there. Thank you, LK....and thank you Beverley Crick. I can't wait for the next collaboration of these two talented ladies.

Now this is how you write a romance story!

I loved the characters, Jack and Amanda. I was able to visualize the story very easily. I must say I’ve become a fan of Lisa Kleypas’s work. I would recommend “Suddenly You” to anyone that loves a good 5 Star romance book.

Finally

I've been waiting on this story for a loooong time. I was ecstatic when it finally came out. it's my favorite stand-a-lone story by Lisa.
I would have preferred another narrator. DON'T GET ME WRONG, she did a good job. I will definitely listen to it again and again, but it wasn't SPECTACULAR. When I pictured Jack and how he sounded, it was more deep and rich. The narrator used a higher register which was average, and to me, Jack is not average. At any rate, it was well done overall and I'm just happy it's on Audible!

Narration kept this from being 5 stars

The narration was too fast. I lowered the speed to .75 but that was slightly too slow. Very distracting and made this book hard to listen to. Also the narrator wasn’t the best even if the speed was corrected. She wasn’t the worst I’ve heard but not good enough to really make this book as enjoyable as reading it.

LK Does It Again!!

I'll take care of what I didn't like about the book right up front; the narrator. She had a really hard time with men's voices; BUT she could not ruin this story!!

I find it refreshing that LK is writing more about women with careers, ideas, talents, and the ability to take care of themselves, and men who don't seem to mind. This is so refreshing - though they are still wearing corsets - that I'm going to listen to this again, poor narration and all.

At the age of 30 Amanda hires a man to relieve her of her virginity since she was convinced (probably because of her two older sisters) of her homeliness and inability to inspire men to want her. She built a comfortable career as a novelist while caring for her sick parents until they passed, over 5 years by herself. She has an inheritance and a book deal, and moves to London.

It is well worth a listen or two!! (Even with the narration)

It was just as expected an awesome book. Good narration and was kept engaged the entire time. I am never ever disappointed by Lisa Kleypas books and audibles!

I have always loved Lisa Kleypas, but...

The last two books have been terrible. The stories are surrounding sex and not a real engaging storyline. Very disappointing.

Too much sex

I know some people won’t feel this way but there was so much sex it kind of cut into the story. If that’s what you’re looking for you’ll enjoy the book I prefer the story with just a little bit of sex
