Publisher's summary

No indiscriminate killing. No collateral damage. No unvetted targets.

These are the rules Hawes Madigan lives by. Rules that make being Fog City's Prince of Killers bearable. Soon, he'll be king - of an organization of assassins - and the crown has never felt heavier. Until the mysterious Dante Perry swaggers into his life.

Dante looks like a rock god and carries himself like one, too, all loose-limbed and casually confident. He also carries a concealed weapon, a private investigator's license, and a message for the prince. Someone inside Hawes' organization is out to kill the future king.

In the chaos that follows the timely warning, Hawes comes to depend on Dante. On his skills as an investigator, on the steadiness he offers, and on their moments alone when Hawes lets Dante take control. As alliances are tested and traitors exposed, Hawes needs Dante at his back and in his bed. But if the PI ever learns Hawes' darkest secret, Hawes is sure to get a knife to the heart - and a bullet to the brain - instead.

Contains mature themes.

Good start to hopefully great series

4 Blue Roses
3.5 Blue Flames

Narrator Tristan James gave a good, performance. His cadence and different voices are good. At times I do feel a little bothered by his lack of emotion, but overall I love the sound of his voice and I think its fitting for the genre.

Sexy, action packed crime mystery. This was such a treat for me. I love vigilantes and I love crime families. The book kicked of extremely fast and I hoped it's because the next book will give us more in depth look at the different characters. I was not able to connect emotionally to any of them. I felt the Prince was too trusting and inexperienced and very unsure of himself. This made me latch onto Dante and I kind of hoped he get his revenge. The Prince in my eyes is an idiot who doesn't deserve to be King.
The book does end in a cliffhanger. I hope the next audiobook come out soon, I would hate to wait another year to hear the next one.
The sex scenes are hot M/M action. It was a little too short, I hoped the book was a little longer with more world building and character development. It is fresh and promising.

I do recommend this audiobook as part of the series. The cliffhanger is horrible.
Happy Listening.

Plenty of twists and turns

This writer captured my attention and enticed me to want to know more. In addition, I'm eager to listen to the next book in this series. As usual, narrator was perfect.

Entertaining, action-packed romance!

☆☆☆☆
Prince of Killers was an entertaining, action-packed MM romance. It is told in third person POV which I’m not sure I liked, especially while listening to an audiobook. Overall, the narration was spot on.
Hawes Madigan is known as the Prince of Killers, a title he despises. He and his family are a family of assassins who live by the code of no indiscriminate killing, no collateral damage and no unvetted targets. Then Dante Perry swaggers into his life to warn him that someone wants him dead and they may be closer than he thinks. Dante is a private investigator who seems to know a lot except one secret Hawes hopes he never finds out. As he faces one betrayal after another, with one explosion followed by another including a few gun shots and a family member slips away further, Hawes begins to get used to Dante being there. He needs the man whose rock star looks are a temptation he can’t ignore and his supportive touch is desperately needed.
It took a while for me to get into this story due to the third person omniscient point of view. As the story progressed, I was easily entertained and anxious for when the truth came out. If you love MM romantic suspense, then I recommend you give this story a try. I’m really looking forward to part two as this one ended on a doozy of a cliffhanger. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

How it all began

Apparently I am slow to the beginning of some amazing characters, but I just had to start from the beginning where it all began.
The mystery surrounding the Madigan family is kind of typical for those with money, but Hawes wanting to turn their family business legit is an unexpected approach.
It was great to experience the siblings together, along with their joining for Papa’s death. I really enjoyed hearing the full experience of what Amelia had done to the family, rather than staring from after Holt and Brax got back together.
My only complaint was the narrative, or lack of choice between characters. There was no enthusiasm whatsoever, lacking emotions when needed and a lack of bringing the characters to life. I can appreciate the effort put into the storyline, because the narration was seriously lacking.

Long awaited listen!

I first started this book the moment it released. But I got 60 % in and realized I still had two more books to wait for so I stopped. Now I have finished this and I loved it! It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time!

Enthralling

I’m one of those people who hate cliffhangers. Not because I think they shouldn’t be done, but because I have no chill. Thankfully this series is a few years old, so I don’t have to wait for the rest of the books. Because Damn! This has a hell of a cliffhanger. I started listening to book 2 immediately.

It’s an addictive start to the Fog City trilogy chronicling the relationship between Dante Perri and Hawes Madigan. Set in a world of murder, suspense, unexpected twists and ultimately having no idea how they could possibly make it work.

You can’t really discuss the story without giving away its secrets, but I can say, the men are deliciously dangerous and are way more than who they show the rest of the world. As bad and dangerous as they seem, they are also warm, kind and moral (even if they are grey).

I’d normally not read/listen to three books by the same author in a row, but I won’t be waiting to get this whole story.

I should also note that Tristan James narrates this series, so you don’t just get a fantastic story, you also get the amazing voice(s) of Tristan.

Good but...

I’ve written a similar review for the second book. The story is great is good narration. However, this 3 book“series” is easily ONE book. It’s utter thievery to charge $13 per book for a FIVE hr narration, when I have purchased better titles that’s three times as long with better writing and the best narration at the same price. I won’t be purchasing from this author again. And if I didn’t love most narrators with Tantor Audio... I wouldn’t be buying any of their titles either. But y’all lucked out on that one. I can’t blame the author alone since I’m sure it’s a joint effort with every money-hungry individual & entity involved. Do better with your selections audible. Just cause y’all can doesn’t mean you should.
