Publisher's Summary

“Morgan’s hot first NOLA Knights contemporary (spun off from the Men of Haven series) pulls out all the stops...perfectly balances deep emotions and tense suspense.” (Publishers Weekly)

Book one of NOLA Knights, the heart-stoppingly sexy spinoff series by Men of Haven author Rhenna Morgan....

His world. His rules. Her love.

Though his methods may be rough, when it comes to protecting what’s his, Russian vor Sergei Petrovyh’s heart is always in the right place. That’s never been more true than when the gorgeous Evette Labadie asks him for a job. He knows enough to keep his hands off someone as beloved by the locals as Evie, but there’s something about her that calls to him - no matter how badly he burns to make her his.

Don’t think Evie hasn’t noticed the powerful Russian mafia boss who makes her favorite diner a regular stop. How can she not? He’s as hot as his reputation is dangerous. But everyone in her struggling New Orleans neighborhood knows he’s the man to turn to. And right now she needs money to get her son out of trouble.

Her other needs - needs she knows damn well Sergei can more than satisfy - will have to wait.

Evie soon finds herself playing Cinderella to a man who, despite what people believe, is definitely more prince than villain. She can’t help falling deeper in love with each passing day. But when a turf war between Sergei and a rival brings violence to her doorstep, Evie must come to grips with loving a man who will do anything to defend her...or walk away from her best chance at a happily ever after of her very own.

LIGHTER THAN I WAS EXPECTING.. BUT STILL LOVED IT

I would’ve probably given this book four stars.. however, John Lane’s awesome sexy Russian accent took it to a whole new (.. and deliciously droolworthy) level. It’s not at all dark.. in fact it’s quite a light listen and it’s predominantly ‘relationship’ based.. with a spoonful of evil Uncle angst and rival gang drama mixed into the romance. Russian Mafia Boss Sergei is a besotted sweetheart to Evette and her seven yr old son Emerson after falling straight away for his independent loveable little fairy.. but he’ll have to manoeuvre his chess pieces very carefully before he’ll be able to eventually call her his bride. Approaching the handsome hot Mafia Boss for help was Evie’s only option when she suddenly looses her job.. but this Bratva good guy will end up being her sexy Fairy-Godfather, her revenging Knight, a supportive Father-figure and her loving husband by the Epilogue.

Worth a credit? Yes.. it’s got a nice pace and a great build-up to the sensual dual PoV love story which is set in New Orleans between a strong-willed sassy heroine and an alpha protective honorable tattooed hero with a dark side. Good secondary characters, a dash of humor, a drop of danger and suspense, a swirl of sex, romance and swoons, a light squeeze of emotional heartache and a sweet HEA ending gives you the perfect contemporary cocktail. And I say again, John Lane’s awesome awesome awesome narration of all the characters, their emotions and the fairytale feels made this, for me, a truly compelling listen.

Single Mother and Russian Bratva

What is it about Russian mafia books? A in particular where the alpha male is not only protective, sexy, strong, and determined, but underneath he has a good heart...but is dangerous.
Evie is a young woman struggling to care for her son..her parents are dead, she went off the rails afterwards and drank and partied and landed up pregnant and not knowing the father.
Taking place in New Orleans, Evie is sweet, honest and brave..when she needs to borrow money and goes Segriov who has recently moved to New Orleans to start his own Bratava family. They have an immediate connection..Evie is afraid what may happen if they become involved and Sertivo is fearful she won’t handle the life he leads.
Sexy, sweet, a cute little boy, attraction, great secondary characters..suspense, action and a narrator who does a great Russian accent. Looking forward to the next two books in the series..
Like I said, there is something about the good hearted, yet lethal Russian Bratva.! Loved it and will revisit it again and collect more books/audiobooks by Rhenna Morgan

Absolutely Loved!

I was swept away into a world of romance like no other in this first story in the NOLA Knights Series. It kept me up to the wee hours of the morning and deservedly so as it was difficult to stop listening once I began. John Lane’s voice gave me shivers, in a good way, as I listened to him read the Russian accents throughout this story. Wow, so impressive! There was absolutely nothing I didn’t love about this book and can’t wait to listen to the next one in the series.

So happy with this one.

I am a huge fan of the Men of Haven series and was heartbroken when it came to an end. This NOLA series however is absolutely wonderful and is connected to Haven. Definitely recommend!!

very entertaining

had a whole Cinderella vibe to it, and New Orleans as a setting. Evie was a hardworking single mom and Sergei was the bad ass Pahkan of the city. They were great together and Emerson, her 40 year old son in a 7 year old body just added to it. Now I am interested in other books by this author.

Absolutely loved it!!

John Lane’s voice is yummy!! Sergei is the wolf but Evie is sass with a capital S. I absolutely love their dynamic. The story was so well developed and characters. The way Sergei didn’t even give her the option to say no to being his wife was hilarious. I actually laughed. I would highly recommend this book and audio book!
