Everyone needs a Max in their life...

Somehow, no idea how, this book is the one I started with in this series. And as soon as it was done I started at the beginning. As for the narrator, I cannot imagine another voice for Max and this series. She is pleasant to listen to, demonstrative, and understands the writing and comedic timing of this writer perfectly. And as for the writer, I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy these books. I enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, and these books feel like they have a similar flavor of humor. The "never call it time travel" historical aspect and personal relationships are wonderfully intertwined with rich characters and unexpected surprises. I will be extremely sad at the end of this series. I just may start at the beginning again.

One of Jodi's best!

I laughed out loud several times listening to Plan for the Worst, especially when they were in Crete. Surprising backstories about some of the characters are revealed, and there are brain-twisting concepts about past & future & present--which are all wrapped around each other in some kind of Gordion knot.

OK, so there were 3-4 places where the story dragged a little bit, and Jodi has a tendency to repeat things, which is normally enormously irritating to me, but with her stories, the repetition is only mildly annoying.

This is a really fun read. It can be a stand alone book, but for full impact, you should read all the previous books. Well, maybe not all, but a few. Nah, read them all.

My favorite, but they all are

Ms. Taylor does it again! This one ties together, and very cleverly too, some of the main characters. I was disappointed in the character flaws that developed but...... Nothing is as it seems. I won't spoil it here. I had to hit replay at one point because I thought I had spaced out and missed something. It was like I was listening to a whole different story. Full of twists and turns and totally engaging with the usual, laughable, no I mean "laugh out loud", moments.

Exciting tale of jumps by St. Mary's crew

Jodi Taylor has written another exciting book in the St. Mary's Chronicles series. Maxwell, Markham, and Peterson lead their teams to exciting events from the past. The most exciting jumps are to London to see what happened to the princes and to ancient Crete to see the destruction caused by a volcano eruption and tsunami. Meanwhile back at St. Mary's the Research and Development and the History Departments are at their usual crazy reckless antics such as the Rapid Firing Chicken Cannon and the building of a robot. And as usual their efforts go pear shaped. Jodi Taylor is an expert story teller and wordsmith. The main characters are now my old friends. Each have unique personalities. In addition to being exciting, heartbreaking, and dramatic, this book is very funny. I chuckled out loud many times over the actions and words of the characters. Wonderful book!!! The narrator, Zara Ramm, is fantastic. She gives a unique voice to each pf the characters. She has great comedic timing and her voice conveys the excitement of the various scenes.

Maxed out

Narrator is impecable, but Max’s volatility, paranoia, and lack of faith in pretty much anything is really beginning to grate.
