Publisher's summary

Introducing the Time Police, the brand-new series by international best-selling author Jodi Taylor - an irresistible spinoff from the much-loved Chronicles of St Mary's series. Perfect listening for fans of Doctor Who, Ben Aaronovitch and Jasper Fforde.

A long time ago in the future, the secret of time travel became known to all. Everyone seized the opportunity - and the world nearly ended. There will always be idiots who want to change history.

And so, the Time Police were formed. An all-powerful, international organisation tasked with keeping the timeline straight. At all costs.

Their success is legendary, and the Time Wars are over. But now the Time Police must fight to save a very different future - their own.

This is the story of Jane, Luke and Matthew - arguably the worst recruits in Time Police history. Or, very possibly, three young people who might just change everything.

It was really good!

If you come into the book with the understanding that the books is a scifi comedy, you will do alright. The laughs don't stop until the very last line of the book.....and I mean that literally. It reminds me of one of those classic British BBC sitcoms....it's just fun and funny with great dialog, great stories, a good cohesive group of characters....and it all works to tell a great, funny story.
I guess it is sort of like the old "Get Smart" but with the focus on three new recruits, all of whom can compete with Agent 99 and Maxwell Smart/Agent 86 for laughs. Add in a little time travel scifi and what's not to love.

A good time travel book.

I have not read any of the authors other works (I'm going to though). this one was good. I like time travel books and this one kept my attention. the story line was pretty good. it had a lot of things going on but it kept it interesting. I think the comedy bits helped me connect with the characters. For some reason I pictured hugh Grant as Luke and kate Winslet (like in Holiday) as jane. no idea why. the narrator did a good job. I definitely knew which character was talking while she narrated. sometimes it did sound as if she had a mouth full of marbles..or candy. but overall really good. hope there's a book 2.

A fun romp.

I listened to this because audible said it would appeal to those who like the Peter Grant/Rivers of London series. Well, I love that series, in fact it is my favorite series to date. I cannot say this series is as good as that, but it is a fun romp. This first book is a good introduction to the Time Police and the characters, and I will look for a book two.

Humorous and entertaining

Doing Time is humorous and entertaining science fiction. It is written in the same style as the St. Marys series. Zara Ramm’s narration perfectly conveys the flavor of the story.

A Proper Time Travel Novel

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. The characters are interesting and fleshed out. They are vulnerable, witty and relatable. Though the ending was predictable, I looked forward to the story nonetheless.

Interesting

Nice plot, decent characters, and the writing is okay. I really enjoyed the narrator, who brought the story to life

Keep up the good work!

I didn't enjoy the original St. Mary's storyline in this world but so far I'm enjoying the Time Police storyline. Looking forward to the next installment.

So good

Another great story by Jodi Taylor. Love her writing and the characters she creates and glad that Saint Mary’s makes an appearance as well. Zara Ramm is an excellent narrator and really brings out each character.
