Publisher's summary

Put the kettle on and discover an utterly charming new cozy murder mystery set in a sleepy English seaside town.

Fiona, Sue, and Daisy, three retired ladies who volunteer at the local charity shop, Dogs Need Nice Homes, can’t believe their favorite customer is dead.

Eighty-six-year-old Sarah Brown was found murdered in her hallway by her delivery man, a domino clutched in her hand—with a name scratched on it.

When another person is found dead with a domino in their hand, and with the police making no progress, the ladies will need to help unmask a serial killer. At least they have Fiona’s scruffy-haired terrier cross to assist them.

With plenty of tea and cake along the way, and despite squabbles with their rivals, the Cats Alliance across the street, the Charity Shop Detective Agency is born.

Fans of The Thursday Murder Club, Janice Hallett, Simon Brett, Ian Moore, and Sarah Yarwood-Lovett will adore this exciting new talent in cozy crime.

A fantastic new mystery series

Definitely looking forward to more adventures with “The Charity Shop Detective Agency”. A storyline that moves along, interesting, well-developed characters, quite a decent mystery… Oh, and it’s funny! I laughed out loud several times at a particularly witty turn-of-phrase. Highly recommend.

Fun romp

With a bit of suspended belief about circumstances that just happened to move the plot forward, I thoroughly enjoy following the adventures (and misadventures) of the enthusiastic yet imperfect ladies of the Charity Shop Detective Agency.

A poor attempt to traffic on Richard Osman

In my opinion a poor attempt to traffic on Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series, including the cover art for the book. The narrator gave it a good go, but the three protagonists are mere caricatures of real people and one in particular is extremely annoying. The "creating" of the "agency" is harebrained and ill-conceived--schoolyard stuff. Don't waste your time.

Clever Entertainment

The characters are very relatable, and the plot was very clever. The setting appealed to me because the charity shop rivalry is a real situation in my town!

A Fun Trek

This story was fabulous! It had me laughing out loud several times and wishing that I could pop into the charity shop for tea and cake and to meet these wonderful characters. Excellent narration by Zara Ramm! Thank you Peter Boland and please have Audible hire Zara to record the 3rd installment of this lovely series. We’re waiting to hear it!

Emblazoned humor

The book carried you along well. It's the English humor that masking me go look for not books I hope audible has.

Cozy Mystery with a Dark Side

I love Zara Ramm and I bought this because of that and the genre. The characters were well developed and the story was thoughtfully crafted. It dragged a bit in places. It probably could have been 6-8 chapters shorter. Overall, though, it was a fun listen on my long commute for work and I will buy the next book in the series-so long as Zara Ramm narrates it!
