Ok boomer

Enough said this author has been in the upper crust way to long his examples of something "hard" to overcome are laughable and i was like that is it.

Business Oriented

Not for me. It it geared for the business man or woman wanted to move up. That is not what I was looking for. I was looking for something more uplifting and life changing and challenging for me. A good book for those that want to explore their opportunities for growth in a company.

Priceless lessons that everyone should learn

After 25 years in business, I felt that I understood how to navigate Corporate America well but maybe could use a refresher. This book was far more than a refresher. It is a complete regrounding on the mindset and behaviors we all need to be successful. Extremely well written, easy to understand and practical. You will find yourself taking notes just to help remember all of the content. I had many Ah Ha moments- wish I had this a long time ago! This should be a course in Business school.

I'm grateful I didn't pay full price.

It was painful just getting through the introduction.
The 1st chapter made me seriously consider book burning. Uncertain why Audio recommended it.

A winner for both business and interpersonal skills

This is absolutely the best self development book I have ever read. And actually, I did not have to read it. Dr. Flax read it to me.

Dr. Flax covers issues that come up in most business situations. How to assess the situation and how to solve the issues are presented in a real life scenario that makes sense. “Lose the battle but win the war.“

In addition his teaching relative to communication and presentation skills is outstanding . His examples can be used immediately in order to improve anyone’s communication skills .

This is “must reading“ for anyone who wants to improve their understanding of office politics and how to handle the many situations we all face. In addition, his teachings on oral, written and presentation skills will enhance anyone’s abilities.

A first rate book!

What book did these other reviewers listen to?

I find it funny/sad that other reviewers gave this audiobook a lazy attempt (they wrote their reviews on the same day they purchased the book) before writing very demeaning, short-sighted reviews. I'm not even sure we listened to the same audiobook since I got a LOT out of this. Narration was just fine, but play it on 1.4 speed. At times, I couldn't believe I WASN'T listening to Larry David. But what you're getting is one man's lifetime of lessons that he gathered and used in order to run a consulting business for a few decades. For the price of one audiobook, I can get the sum of one guy's lessons- I'll take it. One thing that really showed me the author's focus on his subject was a part where he mentioned being a kid and getting asked to leave a tennis club due to 'ethnic' reasons. A less-focused author would've drawn more attention to this and gone off on a tangent, but not this author. And I think it goes along with a lot of the lessons in this book about letting go of things, and taking the high road to win wars instead of losing at petty little battles.

Because I do listen to audiobooks when going to bed, I'll warn you this narration style won't work for that. It has some shouting parts that would wake you up. Other than that, I liked it very much and plan to revisit it in the future.

Painful narration

So glad I did not pay for this assault on my ears. I gave up early in Chapter 7, having reached my tolerance limit for the author/narrator’s shouting and screeching. Even in the intro, I had to turn down the volume several times as the narrator’s enthusiastic speech pattern had me thinking that the book may be written in ALL CAPS, bold, 48-point font, peppered with exclamation points. When his voice resumed a normal volume, I had to turn it up again or miss what was being said.
Lewis Thomas said something about exclamation points which might also apply to shouting at your listeners. "If a sentence has something of importance to say, something quite remarkable, it doesn't need a mark [or a raised voice] to point it out. And if it is really, after all, a banal sentence needing more zing, the exclamation point [or screaming] simply emphasizes its banality."
Does the author have an issue with women? He speaks of a character, “Gabby Chatterbox” who wasn’t succeeding in her job despite being “drop dead gorgeous”. How would her appearance figure into the equation? There were other false names which Dr. Flax may have thought were clever such as “Ruthie Less”, “Mrs. Spinster” and “Ben Dover”. I finally shut it off as the screeching teacher Mrs. Spinster begins shouting in Dr. Flax’s version of an Edith Bunker type voice. I have enjoyed other books where a male narrator changes his tone to speak the part of a female character. This is not such a book. No comment on the book’s content. So much of it was overpowered by the narration style.
