Publisher's summary

The world has ended, and those worthy of it have received the chance for a new life in a new reality.

Zach grew in power and thrived in the post-Framework world. He became a respected leader, a shining example of what it meant to be good. But as the world ended, he had only one thought: to punish the monster that had killed the world long before the Framework ended it. Yet not even with his incredible power was he able to stand against the World Ender. His arrival in the new realty, the Infinite Realm, gives him the chance to grow stronger, to find the monster again - and make it pay.

Ryun survived the chaos after the arrival of the Framework by pushing harder than anyone else. He grew in power until he became the most powerful being that had ever walked the planet; but he is hated by the world, called a monster by all others, the World Ender. As the world ends and he steps into a new one, where people stronger than him have lived for centuries, he finds himself lost and without purpose. The only thing that had mattered to him had been lost to him long ago. He truly was the monster that people considered him to be, and he now finds himself wondering if this new reality has a place for someone like him - but he had never been one for lying down and dying without a fight. One world fell to his power, and another might follow.

Actual high quality LitRPG story

I have been through a number of LitRPGs/cultivation and generally enjoy the progression and continuity to listen through a so so story. This first book in the series actually has a deep story with a number of pivots and turns that keep the story interesting and refreshing. The progression doesn't scale itself out of alignment and there are multiple layers of scale resets that make the stories fresh.

Performance is spot on as well, stat readings don't happen too often, so this is generally 30 hours of story. Great book. My only worry is that book 2 and 3 continue to deliver on a story I am invested in.

I loved it

A genuinely great story and long enough to be worth an audible credit without question.

Ryun is my favorite character, one of the best!!

The overall make up of this story is interesting and draws any readers in from every walk of life. dichotomies have shown their heads in true form.

An interesting and fresh take, but not done very well.

This is a classic cultivation book with a fresh, if somewhat odd spin on it. We follow a classic naive hero and his former best friend who turns into a ‘monster’. We know this from the beginning, but slowly go from present to past as we follow the two in their different paths. We mostly focus on the monster as the author attempts to justify his wholesale slaughter of an entire worlds population. It’s a new take, but the past to present is fairly jarring and the persistence of the justification of the ‘monster’ and the increasingly sad sob story for what forced the slaughter etc etc. It just gets a little obnoxious listening to the morality contest after the slaughter of a planet. I’ll finish out the book, but I doubt I go for the sequel. EDIT: I did not give this book enough time. After completing the book, it's refreshing. It gives you an understanding at the beginning, without the full picture. By the end, you realize how dumb you were for your initial thoughts. Fantastic book, I'm already downloading the next one.

Terrific fantasy/Video game/anime-esque story!

I cannot wait for the next one.

My only complaint is that the stats are hard to follow via audiobook. And since our MC is so powerful it takes 5+ minutes just reading out his titles, stats, etc.
