Publisher's summary

Reincarnated as the War God - he has a lot to learn to live up to that title.

His power is only as good as the skill he possesses to wield it. But there is a reason the former War God fell. He can only dare to imagine what foes lie in wait. He will have to build a team out of a former shield maiden, an elven sorceress intent on hiding her power, a beautiful lycan who doesn't trust anyone, and a mortal-hating fire celestial. What could be hard about that?

This book contains some adult content and is intended for a mature audience.

Love it!

I'm not a fan of all this guys' books, but this one... it's pretty good.

As far as harem goes, this has one (loosely), but it's a slow build up to it with lots of sexual tension. Following up on that, there's actually only one full-on sex scene in this one. Compared to his other books, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I don't mind lots of sex scenes, even if they're really descriptive, I just don't want them becoming the padding in the book for length...or becoming the focus. This book has a good feel in this area.

The characters are pretty good of course, they stay within the confines of what you may start to identify as their character...sometimes frustratingly so. But that's just part of consistency.

Piggy-backing off the characters, the narration is perfect for how I imagine them. That and I've come to enjoy every book I've heard so far that these two voice for.

My only gripe, and it's a minor one, is the pacing of the MC's power. It almost felt like the author couldn't quite fine tune it. Like, at points, it seems like an understandably slow build-up as he discovers his own potential, and then boom he just kinda...gets it. But then after he gets it nothing really happens for a while to really test it. it's almost as if the author was aware of this, threw in a road block for the MC at the last minute so it doesn't feel too fast, and then removed just as quickly when it was convenient for the plot. This method seemed to have been washed, rinsed, and repeated multiple times throughout, but thankfully it wasn't done so blatantly as to be jarring so I can forgive it.

TL;DR It's good, for real! looking forward to the next book!

Amazing

like always Rebecca and Daniel do an absolutely amazing job bringing the characters to life.

The book starts off great with action and not a slow beginning. Never a dull moment in the book.

Wahoo!

I am a huge fan of Daniel Wisniewski and Rebecca Woods. They have some fantastic audio and I love hearing their narration. This story was really brought to life by them and I enjoyed it immensely. The pacing was good, the events gripping, and the storytelling top notch. Don't take my word for it, give it a try.

Great new book from David Burke!

Great new novel from David Broke not only are the narrators one of the best. We also got plenty of world building, character building with a decent cast, a MC whos really trying to change and already has a decisive and great personality among so much more!

my experience warning spoilers

I don't recall exactly what the first book was that I came across by this author. I did get heavily invested in the story of prism only to later find that there appeared to be some Crossover with another of the author's series. it wasn't that big of a deal at the ending of book four, but seemed to become a little bit more important in book 5. apparently the former war god finds himself stranded on Earth with the shadow attempting to use him for their own purposes. it got to the point that I decided to suspend my read through of that book and see what was going on with this series. in short we've got two main characters that are drastically different. the story of prism takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth where the remnants of humanity fight back against the shadow. there are these light beings and an energy called progenitor energy which essentially gives some of humanity super powers waited heavily in favor of women. our main character was orphaned as a teenager, help to survive by a young lady who became a romantic partner before the main character finds himself as one of these super powered people fighting against the darkness. it is later discovered that these beings of Shadow and light are part of the same people as in opposite sides of the same coin. they fled some Darkness called the void and have been hiding on Earth feeding off of the emotions of humanity. the world is more or less devoid of this special energy called essence. supposedly the former war god was stranded upon Earth in a rather dazed state for lack of a better description. to demigods followed trying to take something from him. apparently their plan was to become rulers of Earth and they sold the former demigod to the shadow. it didn't quite take and now the former war god, confused as he is, is going to be causing problems for our hero in the prism story. he's already destroyed one of the last cities. they're also is this statement that the former war god makes about for being on Earth who can control this power. not knowing what was going on and with a substantial part of the story being dedicated to this thread I decided to go read this the first book of the series that was crossing over. war God for hire shows us a main character who is at the top of his game in baseball. Nothing Else Matters to him more than winning including family, friends, women, fans, etc. from society's point of view he's a bit of a, redacted for amazon. he finds himself more or less forcibly merged with the war God and abducted to the War gods world where there are eight in total including the war god himself. there's been a hell of a fight and he's critically injured and thus he's looking for a way back. this firmly puts the main character in this story as the Patsy who will be discarded or killed at some later date. obviously since I'm coming from Prism story we know that that doesn't happen but that he's not killed. it also appears that in this first book we have come across these two Demi's that have followed the war God for whatever they're after. I wasn't really interested in reading this story as the character seemed like when I wouldn't be interested in. I'm always annoyed when creators of entertainment do crossovers because in certain circumstances it feels like if you want the whole story of what part of it you enjoy you're forced to read or watch this other thing. this feels kind of like that only the author is tried and true in my experience so I'm not as annoyed as I would otherwise be. when I was younger I used to watch The CW and in my opinion that kind of crossover action is the predatory kind that's not okay. all right this review is long enough. the narrators did a fantastic job and the writing is solid. I'm still kind of annoyed that in order to understand what's happening in one series I got a kind of come over here and find out what's going on in this series, but the author has done a good job so far despite my personal annoyance over crossover crap.
