Story
When Alice Verianna went to sleep, she was just another teen from the Denver suburbs. She definitely didn't expect to be transported to a magical alternate dimension, inhabited by monsters and presided over by a mysterious System. Here, people resemble RPG characters and everyone has access to their own status screens. Grappling with the mechanics of the elusive System isn't the only challenge Alice faces. It seems an underground organization known as the Society of Starry Eyes has taken a particular interest in other dimensions.

They become digital citizens, living out their lives in virtual cities. Story
In the year 2107, the world has both made astounding leaps forward and reduced humanity to its most basic existence. While the megacorps and those who rule them enjoy lives of extraordinary comfort and ease, most people barely scrape by, doing whatever they can to keep going. Juliet Bianchi is one of the latter. She works cutting metal in a scrapyard and doesn't have much to show for it except for a small group of equally bereft, fiercely loyal friends. Still, she maintains a bright disposition, possessing more hope and optimism than anyone would expect her to—and she's going to need it.

You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. All of the stories you've heard are wrong. They always tell you that starting a new life in a fantasy world is an amazing experience, full of magic, adventure, and true love...but they never tell you what happens when it's over. They don't tell you that it just happens again. And again. By the time you start your third new life in a row, all of that initial amazement wears off. That's where Lux finds himself now: dropped into yet another fantasy world, forced to restart his life all over again. He wants nothing more than to disappear...but it seems the world has other plans for him.

Suddenly thrust into a new world where magic, monsters, and character levels are par for the course, Tess will find that simply surviving can be a challenge. It doesn't help that dark forces are stirring, she's woefully underpowered, and spiders keep trying to claw her face off.

Surprisingly Good
The story is largely following an isekai'ed woman that goes to an alternate world 15 years in the past.
It could do without the family issues, but they dont break the story or anything.
there are also kinda large time skips that could have easily been used to fill in some of the rushed conversation. But it is difficult to write a story that is told in years timescale, so I get why the events were lumped together.

Great story!!
While waiting on my So what I’m a spider and He who fights with monsters, and taking a break from Salvos I found this gem. I for one would highly recommend this series. The magic has tiers so it’s pretty easy to understand damage/defense output, with the right amount of action vs story IMO. Listened at x1.2, no regrets.
Go Team Cousins!!

D&D meets Hogwarts meets... Rebel Wilson?
The writing of this book is solid and overall I found the story engrossing and enjoyable. Comparing this book to a number of Lit RPG I've listened to, it holds up well. While not as number crunchy as many, there is overall level progression and as well as with different areas of magic. Then there is the added "muggle finds herself in a wizarding world" feel to it. The magic system itself is D&D based so might be slightly confusing at first if you're not already familiar with that.
Are there other issues with this book? Yes. The MC can be a bit annoying at times and the emotional issues a little heavy, but I didn't feel that detracted much from the story. In the end, this is about a 30 year old woman finding herself in her 15 year old body from parallel universe where magic is used instead of science. I thought it was an interesting twist and handled well.
My only real gripe is the narrator. To be fair she did a great job in the main but there were some stumbles and mispronunciations that could have been fixed. The real issue was the accent of the MC. Not sure if that is just a Sydney thing, but man, I kept thinking I was listening to Rebel Wilson. I like Rebel - she's a great actress and funny, but as the voice of the MC of a fantasy... well, perhaps it is just the accent of the area and I shouldn't complain, but it pulled me out of the story a little. Not a deal breaker though.
In summary, this is a first book for this author and in my opinion outperforms most in something of an overcrowded subgenre. Not quite at the level of "The Land" or "He Who Fights Monsters" but close. Well worth the credit and the listen.

Something D&D lovers will like.
Narration was great! Climax and story were everything I wanted in modern fantasy. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes d&d or modern fantasy, because it takes a well loved system of magic and has a unique take, along with a witty twist to how everything works.
Seriously, a great book. The inherent drawbacks to various types of magic , for example, is a beautiful stroke. Other than that, I wouldn't want to say more, for fear of spoiling stuff ;)

Easily Enjoyable.
The story is intriguing and well thought out. The narration is fairly good as well. All in all if you like game lit or progression fantasy you probably won’t regret giving the book a try.

Great story but!
This was a great story it’s like a web novel. The only bad thing about it is the Mc has insane choice options.
Power is here and there never knowing what her actual might is. This might kill a mouse but the next time it can’t even scratch a mouse.
Worth a credit just keep in mind it’s like a web novel.

Don't be fooled by this book
This book should have been edited before it was published to audiobook format. It was too frustrating to finish listening.
In short, characters repeatedly contradict themselves, often within the same passage. The writing is rife with malaphors, and there are enough strange spelling mistakes that the narrator actually pronounced some of them (quite smoothly). The main character leverages almost none of their prior experience except in passing reference to the classic isekai trope of better understanding of science allowing better use of magic. Even this is a throw-away line in off-screen advancement.
Exceptionally frustrating since the premise is great, and there are some excellent ideas and setup for plots.
