Who needs a Class when you're already the strongest anyways?

Ten years ago, Amelia woke up alone and lost in a broken world where she had to fight for her survival.

Now, after reaching the pinnacle of power, defeating the Void itself, and escaping the abyss, she has finally found her way back into the real world.

But instead of returning to Earth, she arrives in the land of Vacuos. A fantasy world with magic, monsters, Classes, and Levels. A world that is governed by a System like it were a video game.

When rewarded with a Class befitting her accomplishments—to become a powerful [Hero] that will forever dedicate her life to protecting this world that is not her own—she only has one response: “Absolutely not. I’m going to live a normal life now, thank you very much.”

There is a lot to like about this story. Amelia feels like a real person with complexity and goals. Her rejection of the system isn’t just done out of ignorance or stubbornness but something core to her personality. The world is interesting and the other characters likewise flushed out.

This book is also somewhat irreverent and takes a look at itself and the genre which is great if you’re the introspective type. This is easily ignored if it’s not something you care about.

For me personally it’s not a slam dunk as I sometimes found scenes to simply be waiting for Amelia to show up. This didn’t happen often, a challenge the author handled well, but it was noticeable.

Good Story

I understand why we are required to write something with the review, but I am still not a big fan of the requirements. I think it discourages people from leaving reviews. Nevertheless, I suppose if I can expect the author to write a whole book in any reasonable amount of time, then I can write a few lines in a text box. There are a few things I really like about this story. First, there is a lot of actual story in the first book. It does more than just world build and introduce a few characters, then end. Second, I think the premise is well executed. SPOILERish: This is another OP MC story, but the author establishes a conflict for the character that she can't just immediately fix and will drive the story forward. She doesn't know everything or have everything planned out. Third, the book ends well. The ending of a book, especially the end of a series, is really important to me. It can ruin the whole story or just annoy you with a cliffhanger. This book does not. The book resolves the immediate conflicts while offering information about how the story will progress without pulling us halfway into the next plot line. All in all, great ending. I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to continuing this series as well as finishing "Salvos."
Last, this book includes fowl language such as many uses of the f-bomb, but isn't crude, and contains no sexually explicit content, which I appreciate. The narrator did a wonderful job as well.

A start to another great series

Great narrator and great first book to the series. It kept me entertained and I loved Amelia and her interactions with the different characters.

Great listen!

I very much enjoyed this first story. The fact that it left us on a cliffhanger is kinda annoying but that makes me all the more excited to read the second book.

Pretty good.

I listen to a lot of Lit Rpg and I think I have found another favorite series, it has a fresh original story that made me smile, laugh, and sometimes even scared (for the main characters that is). I hope the second book releases soon because I want more!

It’s just a fun easy listen , not much more to be said. Little predictable but nothing too bad

it's a surprising story that I liked quite a bit and look forward to hearing the rest of the story.

Good narration, fairly interesting story with a for the most part airhead protagonist. If you like One Punch Man you’ll like this.

if you've never read(watched) much otherworld/isekai + system narratives this isn't the series to begin with. If you have experience with this genre then it's a treat that goes beyond or breaks many of the usual tropes. Also it is called Lit RPG but it won't deluge you with stats. indeed there are no stat sheet reads at all. The only numbers you even encounter are levels and most things are sorted by the basic alphabet scale.

it really is a narrative driven and not function driven story. A search for purpose tale, no romance or grand ambitions. It definitely fits into the "easy life" subgenre but if course our protagonist doesn't get it so simply. And I never find myself rolling my eyes at how overpowered she is. It simply isn't a main character power fantasy.

a breath of different air for the otherworld genre
