Publisher's Summary

Morgan Mackenzie had a very bad day.

First at work, then at home, and then her bathtub fell through a portal to another world, with her in it. Now she's stuck thousands of miles from any sort of civilization with nothing but the bathtub and a lace puffball scrubby. But she learned magic, so that's sorta nice. Now if only she could find some clothes....

Why? This was just a waste of time

First off, the performance was spot on. The Narrator made this book WAY better than it should have been. Full 5 stars for Narration.

Second, I should have listened to the bad review of all stats all 3rd person all thinking and nothing happens ever.... Because you spend most of the book hearing about what should be done and nothing actually getting done.

Third, Mary Sue looks weak vs this MC. This MC, because she is naked is twice as powerful as any other being on the planet. AT lvl 10 her stats make her lvl 20 at lvl 50 her stats make here lvl 100, and so on. I mean it was entertaining the first 5 min of the book but then it was just bad. O look she leveled a mountain at lvl 6 and can nuke whole cities now on day 3! Yeah.... noo…

Fourth nothing happens 6 hours into the book... I mean nothing. She has no reason to do anything. Every thing that made her unsafe in the new world is one shot, yes one shot. And anything not one shot has random things killing them like things falling from the sky and she gets credit for killing things 10 times more powerful than her while she just sits there and ponders the question of the universe and boys.

If you really want to waste your time you should read this book. It is the best way to hear someone talk and not do anything ever. Not be in danger ever. Not have meaningful interactions with people ever. Not grow and become better. Not overcome strife ever. Basically after the first 5 min of the novelty of having to be naked while fighting wares off. Nothing happens. End of the book? Nothing really happened except that the MC just happens to MASTER (that's right what takes people their whole life she did in days) MASTER several skill and is now a powerhouse of destruction as long as she doesn't wear clothes. And That sounds cool, but the writer, who actually wrote the book well, made it the most uninteresting thing ever.

I will be returning this book. Awful.

A Naked and Afraid Influenced LitRPG

Like the 1st reviewer, I picked this up on something of a lark, although as someone who's listened to and liked several LitRPGs. I think we have reasonable writing, but I've decided to send this one back after about five hours listening.

What's unique about this story is this. Our young, attractive female protagonist is by circumstance flat out forced by the LitRPG system to wander around unclothed, with bonuses from this situation being the core of her advantages. You'd think this would lead towards completely juvenile stuff. But I'm not sure this is what the author is doing.

Either the author is advocating nudism, or the author's finding influence by mixing the Naked and Afraid TV show with the LiteRPG genre. I suppose I should have just paid attention to the book being named 'Skyclad', because this situation's part of why I'm dropping it.

The writing (the prose) isn't bad at all. We are given visibility into view point characters emotions, thoughts and experiences, with reasonable depth. The writing isn't deeply descriptive, but it certainly gives enough to visualize.

I think there's one other thing behind my reaction. I'm all for characters experiencing issues and trouble, and growing over long character story arcs. And in this one, here we are 25% of the book, and the character arc has had this scared young woman deciding to accept her lot in life that she's going to have to walk around unclothed for the rest of her life.

Somehow I just don't connect to this.

Now -- there are plenty of hints suggesting that this character will have a significant role in kingdom level events later in the book. There's quite possibly some good entertainment I'm passing up.

And I reiterate - this isn't badly written. I'm just turning elsewhere.

An amazingly good time

I picked this book up on a whim, thinking I have a credit to burn why not. At chapter 2 I was hooked. I have only read/listen to about 10 chapters and love it so far.

The narrator is once again amazing and really helps bring the story to life. The plot has a lot of potential and over all fun. Just the right amount status updates to not bog down the story but to advance it

I wasn’t sure at first, but I’m glad I stuck with it.

I really enjoyed this book, though it took me until about the 2.5 hour mark to really get into the story. That being said it’s a fantastic book. It’s reminiscent of destiny’s crucible, with magic and a leaving system that puts it in the lit rpg genera. The only thing I didn’t really like was about this book is that Morgan’s story gets a little repetitive in the middle of the book. And by that I mean she fights almost dies and then doesn’t rinse and repeat. And yes I understand that it wouldn’t be interesting if there was no near death experiences but it was almost like the author was dragging out her story just to develop other characters in chapters in between hers rather than doing it throughout the first couple of chapters. (Wow what a run-on sentence) If the other characters had been introduced earlier it would have made the first part of the book much interesting.

Not a fan so far

At chapter 3 and not a fan so far. Mostly narrated in 3rd person perspective or just explaining stats. Boring for the most part. I feel like most of the story is just a bunch of space filler, almost as if everything is over explained.

This was a really fun book to listen to. It took me until about chapter 5 or 6 to really get into it. Couldn't finish it fast enough and am waiting eagerly for book2. Narrator did an awesome job!

amazing

this has shot up to one of my favorite not only litrpg but favorite books. The world building, characters , and set up for more books is done beautifully.

love the characters and their skills. the way magic is used, the history, all done with cleaver twist.

i cant wait for more. much more. this is better then "the land" doesn't have that humor but its story is there.

the narrator does a great job. many voices and accents. done real well, easy flow and easy to listen too.

also. there is lulu. whats not to love about lulu

Nope

I quit half way through when there still was no real story. And it felt like the author had no idea how to write about women. One can only be naked, one is a succubus, and one is a prostitute. Do you see a pattern?

WAY better than expected

Wow, for an experienced author this would be an excellent book but for a first time author, wow is all I can say.

Great book and really looking forward to the 2nd and hopefully more in the series.

Also, terrific narration to complement a super story.

You don't need spoilers, just buy it , read or listen and thoroughly enjoy.

Do not recommend, you can do better

I read the blurb, and thought it sounded an interesting start to a story; then instead of the female lead quickly finding clothes or other coverings to begin her exploration of a new world we get this trashy fantasy of a frustrated teenage boy.

Cool it's LitRPG, but do all her skills have to have a Naked prefix and condition??

This is worse that Aleron Kong's self sabotage of his Chaos Seed series with that horrendous diarrhoea scene. It's childish, two dimensional, and frankly embarrassing.

I didn't even make it past the second chapter before refunding this book.

Do not recommend, you can do better.

If you're looking for half decent LitRPG check out Ascend Online. If you want trashy fan fiction smut read Alpha World

A true gem

Honestly amazing. I never thought a litrpg could actually be mad einto an audiobook, I thought that the constant start pages would be unbelievably annoying. I was wrong, for this book at least, I was definitely wrong. An extremely well written gem that manages to captivate. I will admit that the stats were a bit much in the beginning but they definitely take a back seat later in the book where the over arching story begins to take shape. A must listen to any LitRPG fan.

Gave up

I like the concept of the people of our world being drawn into another but the story is not for me - after the umpteenth stats explanation, I just gave up caring. I'm sure this has the potential to be a cracking read if I continue but I don't want to hear another repetition of the many and varied stats that someone can get while naked in the middle of nowhere by accidentally doing things to herself.
No issues with the narrator though but I'll give this one a miss, thanks.

one of the funniest and well written audiobooks.

I did not pick this book up for some time as it was about a naked girl. thinking it was just going to be smut. turned out to be one of the best books I have had the pleasure to listen to. her being naked was only brought up like a dozen times as more of a comedy thing. over all love the book and am excited for the second one

A quality RPG style fantasy

Generally I haven’t enjoyed the audiobook, RPG game style stories. But this book is an exception to that.

A very entertaining story that develops into an interesting and compelling story full of great characters, touches of humour and a well crafted world.

The narration couldn’t be any better. Laurie does an excellent job.

I’m very much looking forward to book 2.

Epic Fantasy LitRPG

This is a complex, serious litRPG with high fantasy elements. It follows a primary MC, but also has occasional chapters dedicated to secondary persons. Like a Brandon Sanderson book, these chapters aren't really needed for the main storyline, but reading them does make a richer, deeper world.

I won't go too much into the story - plenty of other reviews do that. Suffice to say that a woman gets transported naked into a fantasy world and must level up using game mechanics to survive. The nudity is an interesting mechanic - nothing sexual about it, more like 'how can I survive without armour or weapons'

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would, and will happily read book two.

I loved the book so fucking much. Can’t wait for the next one, only thing was I wanted to see more about Morgan and the narrative surrounding Morgan to go a bit father than the world building. Not that I didn’t love the world building. If you’re looking at reviews and on the fence about giving the book a go, go for it

95 percent flurry, boring andno plot

can't recommend its filled with fluff, there is an interesting world and story in here but it take 14 hour to get anywhere. it really drags on to the I finished the story as it filtered into the background while running.
