About this listen

Narcissism is an overwhelming and confusing topic. But when you reveal its mask, you see that it is basically a lie told to those who are vulnerable.

Narcissistic abuse, by nature, is designed to keep you trapped in shame-based vertigo. It doesn’t just go away because you know it exists. Narcissism creates a set of beliefs, behaviors, and paradigms in its target which must be changed from the inside.

How to Kill a Narcissist is an audiobook with two aims:

  1. To reveal the rotten core of the narcissistic personality so you can see it clearly
  2. To present you with an inside-out strategy for healing, recovery and freedom

Using an inside-out approach, How to Kill a Narcissist presents the seven practices for recovery and healing:

  1. Get allies: boost self-esteem through limbic resonance
  2. Give shape to your true self: uncover disowned parts of the self and restore wholeness
  3. Skill up: empower yourself
  4. Flex your muscles: challenge the psychological cage and come out of hiding
  5. Even the scale: restore balance to your relationships
  6. Boundaries: foster a strong sense of self and firmly protect it
  7. Scorched earth: disengage from those who wish to manipulate you

Each practice is designed to instill you with independence, strength, emotional resilience, and awareness, while allowing you to cultivate balanced, loving relationships and pursue a life of passion.

This is the art of killing a narcissist.

This book helps a person understand how to truly defeat the narcissist at their game. That's all it is - a sick game.

Great!

The internet is full of analysis about nacissistic behaviour. Instead, the value of this book is that it focus on the victim’s behaviour and its way out of the situation with class and intelligence.

Intelligent and practical. Essential help. Very good narration.

"Who are you worshiping and why?"

This book validates a concept I've been rolling around in my mind: Heal from narcissistic abuse by embracing your own inner narcissist.

This is actually what some of us instinctually attempt to do when we begin exhibiting narcissistic traits at the point where we can no longer tolerate the abuse. It is then we begin to question whether we are, in fact, the narcissistic one.

Sadly, no one taught us how to recover in a healthy way. So, we begin expressing the more negative traits of narcissism we learned in the relationship from someone who was unhealthy.

There is actually healthy narcissism that never has to decend into pathological narcissism. This book explains it well in easy-to-understand language.

One of the BEST resources for healing

Share this with anyone who is close with a suspected narcissist. I’ve done a lot of learning about narcissism and I wish I had started here. It was so nice to have validation for feelings and things that I didn’t attribute to being part of being under a Narcisstic Regime, even with all the research I’ve done. I’m going to listen to it again right away because of the density of information that I think I need to hear again to process. The book is quick and feels like a real person talking to you, using a little of colorful language and humor to help make a point. A friend recommended this book to me and I have to thank her, because it was shockingly helpful. Everyone would benefit from this book to help recognize narcissistic behavior in anyone and understand how to deal with it.

Uncanny Accuracy!

Face the demons and know when to run from them as well. There is no standard to those individuals who do not play by the same basic rules - and even then something is lost in translation. Here self awareness meets awareness of the pathology of narcissism. The practice of leveraging ambiguity for selfish gain is counteracted with this poignant piece.

A must read for recovery

The narrator read the book, but also my life verbatim and as though he has been a fly on the wall for many years. Spot on with disassociation and not being my true self in order to cope with my narcissists untrue self. My counselor recommended this book and I'm glad I gave it a try. The only thing I would be wary of is the meditation and emptying yourself.

Intriguing and genuine
