Publisher's Summary

From Vickie Stringer, the "queen of urban fiction" (Publishers Weekly), comes a scorching tale of love, lies, loss, and the indomitable spirit of a woman scorned. Mischievous and manipulative, 18-year-old Red is an expert at deception with a provocative femininity. She employs her dirty ways - even faking a pregnancy with her boyfriend - to win a closetful of Gucci bags, a deluxe condominium full of baby accessories, a new car, and a book deal. But when one of Red's scams backfires and she winds up truly pregnant by her inmate ex-boyfriend, Bacon, she finds herself in more trouble than she's ever known.

The drama truly unravels when Red's picture-perfect cons fall apart due to - surprisingly - the power of love.

Narrator sucks!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narrator was trouble. Her voice had no enthusiasm at all, made it extremely hard to listen. I could not even make it past the 1st chapter.

Racist pornography

This book is terrible. But I listened to the entire thing for the same reason that a person looks at a train wreck. If you're into graphic, and I mean very graphic sex, and racist stereotypes, then this is the book for you. Taking away the sex and vulgarity leaves you with a book that has weak, under developed characters and A rather meaning the storyline. The author tries to end the book as a cliffhanger but the reality is you're just happy it's finished. The most surprising part of this book was the acknowledgments where this vulgar author thanked her church.

Dirty Ahhhhh Girl smh

Spoilers Alert!!! ALERT!

To be honest!

Red, is the type of female that you can't trust, I get and feel why Bacon wants to kill Red, could you blame him? But Q being in the middle is not good at all smh. I really like Q foreal, he a good dude. And him being in between Bacon and Red crap will get him hurt. I can't wait to get part 2 and also part 3, I finally gotten around to actually getting this book since I've been wanting to read this in like forever, at first I didn't want to finish this book but after a couple of chapters I'm like this book is actually good, I gotta finish it. Glad I did.

P.S.
Bruh, "that mother ***** pee on me" lmao now that had me weak. Lord! I knew Q wasn't going to leave Red. Smh, I feel like he's too good of a man for her like seriously. Leave that girl alone Q dang! Like Bell Devoe said "she's so fly, she'll drive you right out of your mind, steal your heart when you're blind, beware she's scheme she'll make you think you're dreaming, that girl is POISON!" and that is what Raven aka RED definitely is smh. And what makes it even worse his friend Zeek tap that and I cannot help but sing poison, like Bell Devoe said "me and the crew used to do her". Yeah, Q and his boy defiantly did her humph.

P.S.S
One sad thing about this book was when Red got kicked in her stomach and lost her baby that mess even hurt me and when Terri tried to steal her ex and Kira baby smh, I felt so bad for that baby, anything dealing with kids hurt my heart.

I mean...

The story was pretty good. But the news reporter narrating through me off. She made it hard to get through it. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, I just hope they choose a different narrator.

needs work

the storyline was okay but not great. It definitely did not flow smoothly. also, there were lot of grammatical errors. the worst part of this book was definitely the narrator. She read the book as if she were a news reporter rather than a storyteller.
