Publisher's summary

The last thing half-dragon, half-fairy private investigator Twig Starfig wants to do is retrieve a stolen enchanted horn from a treacherous fae, but there's no denying the dazzlingly gorgeous unicorn who asks Twig to do just that. Literally, no denying, because compelling the reluctant detective is all part of a unicorn's seductive magic.

To add to his woes, Twig is saddled with the unicorn's cheeky indentured servant, Quinn Broomsparkle. Dragons are supposed to want to eat humans, but Twig's half-dragon side only wants to gobble up Quinn in a more personal way. Making matters worse, it's obvious the smokin' hot but untrustworthy sidekick is hiding something. Something big. And not what's in his trousers. In the PI business, that means trouble with a capital Q.

Throw in gads of zombies, a creepy ghost pirate ship, a malfunctioning magic carpet, and Twig's overbearing fairy father's demands to live up to the illustrious Starfig name. Naturally, an old but abiding enemy chooses this time to resurface, too. Those inconveniences Twig can handle. The realization he's falling for a human who isn't free to return his affections and whose life may hang on the success of his latest case?

Not so much.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!

After reading some of the reviews I had mixed feelings about the book. But knowing the narrator I was sure that I would enjoy it. I did very much. In another review someone said they thought that the names of the characters were a little strange. Well it is fantasy so you’re talking about fairies and dragons and wizards so it’s part of the charm of the book. This book made me laugh and made me a little sad and gave me a little hope for love. The adventures were great the storyline was great and as I said above I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had a very long drive ahead of me today, so started about an hour in and as I climbed into my hotel bed, finished the book. 👍🏻👍🏻
I always Enjoy Greg’s narrations! He brings the characters to life!

A Surprise!

Ridiculous names and inane teasers originally turned me off. When I finally did listen to the story It was a delightful surprise. I should have known that anything read by Greg Boudreaux would be great!

Witty and full of fantastical gayness!

Going into this I had no idea what to expect and what I got thrilled me to the core. This was a fantasy story that did not hold its readers hand and fully delved into taboo subjects with out a second thought.

This touched on fantasy tropes with cunning and humor, with the characters talked smackingly at one another.

And the narrator, Greg Boudreaux, did a magnificent job bouncing from person to person, never stripping the quick tempo of a conversation! Could listen to him talk about literally anything and enjoy it!

It’s definitely not for everyone but there was an air of pleasant energy at every turn that I could not help but smile with! It was a rollercoaster to say the least. Getting off made me want more and the ride itself kept me smiling as well as got my heart racing! The sex was convincing, well written and while it was just kinda shoved in, I certainly did not mind it. The language the author used gave allowance to such pauses and they never halted the story completely.

Overall, an entertaining read for anyone who wants a quick escape from reality. The world is playfully dark, the characters are a joy to experience and the story never stuck around any one place for too long. There are flaws but god I can easily overlook them for the joy this brought me.

Brilliant narration for a brilliant hilarious book

Audio reread January 2021

I didn't think this could possibly get better, but when I'm wrong, I'm wrong in a big way! Everything is better when Greg Boudreaux/Greg Tremblay is reading!! 😍 This was ah-maz-ing, I don't think I've ever heard characters more perfectly voiced since Michael Lesley for The Lightning-Struck Heart. I was a fan of Greg before this but I think this is my favorite from him to this point!! Perfection in audio. ❤️

I got a lot of audio/ebooks for Christmas and my birthday from my awesome friends, so I am going to be enjoying myself for a while here. Best friends ever! 🥰

*runs to the next one!*
