When Regina's friends insist on setting her up a "Fantasy Fix" to help her get over her cheating ex, she dreams up some kinky out-of-this-world encounters that they could never possibly bring to life. But the next thing Regina knows, her friends have got her laced into a shiny black corset, tight leather pants, and a sexy pair of stilettos. It's time for some downtown vampire-fantasy fun...

The Vampire Ball in Manhattan's East Village isn't really Dmitri Vidame's idea of a good time, but as a member of the Council that governs the Others, he has to keep an eye on all the young vamps who prey on the pretenders. After he feasts his dark eyes on fiery Regina at the bar, he knows that he must have her. But for the first time Dmitri meets a woman who is more than a match for his indomitable will. And he may be the fantasy Regina hoped for...until she---and her feisty friends---discover her sexy new lover's bloodsucking secret.

There is no other story here besides the romance with some really long sex scenes that border line on Dom/Sub type. Which as any of my other followers know I don't like at all. I thought at the beginning it might have some potential but it really was just a mediocre romance. The heroine is in the 'too stupid to live' category. She didn't even question all the powers that Dmitri possessed and then was surprised that he turned out to be a vampire. Again I wonder about women who don't use condoms and then later think that they are safe with humans but with a supernatural being they are going to get some disease. Really? That is just to mention one of the more obvious signs of her stupidity. I'm actually surprised I listened to the whole thing it is probably because the narrator was really good, I think the book was better than it really was because of her.

Mediocre…

This books was hilarious. Just smut and good times from the beginning. It’s not too serious and the characters were a little silly. Happy endings (literally and figuratively)

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story did keep my attention because I wanted to see what would happen with the main characters

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Honestly, I could not get passed the narrator...the story kept my attention but would have been soooo much better with a "younger" narrator. She just sounded too "mature" for this particular story...the character was supposed to be in her 20's and the narrator's slavic/russian? accent was ANNOYING..

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

YES

Could not get passed the narrator

This had a bit too much *ahem* for me, but I liked the story, enjoyed the supporting characters, and want to learn more about them.

Narrator worked for me, esp with the lower male voices. She didn’t distract from the story, instead helped build it. But please, like I expected anything else? It is Kate Reading after all.

I’ll move to book 2 hoping for more story and a tiny bit less *ahem*

Although this series has the potential to become formulaic, this first book should NOT be missed, even if you elect to discontinue listening to the rest of the series.

It puts an interesting twist on seduction while weaving a plot that stands up to most and surpasses many more of the worn-out writers who rely on titillation and angst to carry a flimsy plotline.

I enjoyed how this story took something from Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew and blended it with the well-seasoned sex we saw in Fifty Shades of Grey.

Let’s see how well this series continues.

The Narrator, Kate Reading, does a fine job on Male/Female voice as well as Character differentiations and gets better on accents and word pronunciations as the book goes on.

All in all I give this book a substantial 4 across the board.
