Publisher's Summary

Over a third of Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" adhere to a principle called "servant leadership". James C. Hunter's runaway best seller The Servant introduced over a million readers around the world to this philosophy of leading through courage, compassion, and character. Now with The Servant Leadership Training Course, this acclaimed author teaches listeners immediate, practical techniques for applying the revolutionary principles of servant leadership to their working lives. Drawing from the sold-out seminars he has presented all over the world, Hunter teaches listeners about:

  • The role of character: how right action builds inner strength and inspires others to grow
  • How major corporations have turned servant leadership into increased morale, productivity, and profit; and what it means for your business
  • Learning to use influence instead of intimidation to achieve your goals, and much more

In the business world, the greatest leaders emerging today are the ones who have learned how to serve their employees, not command them. With foundational principles and practical exercises that apply to chief executives and local managers alike, The Servant Leadership Training Course gives listeners the keys to leading with integrity, authority, and compassion.

AWESOME- loved it from the first minute.

What made the experience of listening to The Servant Leadership Training Course the most enjoyable?

It's very unusual in the self-help audio book to be entertained and sucked in... but I was from the first few minutes. I didn't want to have to turn it off.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Servant Leadership Training Course?

His discussion on the ultimate servant leader and teacher, Jesus.

What does James C. Hunter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His personality and witty character. He's the "real deal."

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did chuckle a few times.

Any additional comments?

Could possibly use some editing - there have been a few places where I think he was meaning to use one word but used another, or repeated phrases or didn't seem very clear. It reduces the professionalism, but only by a margin. He has great delivery.

I wish there were worksheets or downloads to go with this!!

Excellent but missing study guide

If you could sum up The Servant Leadership Training Course in three words, what would they be?

I enjoyed listening and will listen again. The practical section requires a study guide that the audio does not provide. It would be nice that Audible would make this one important aspect possible for download.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Servant Leadership Training Course?

The practical part is very usable

Any additional comments?

Need the study guide.

welcome to church

if this author would sick to the subject of servant leadership and spare is his judgemental self important diatribes on why everything about him and his world is righteous and everything about the world outside his is morally flawed, I might have come away with something approaching what I was expecting to get out of this book. Unfortunately, this was one of only two titles that came up in my search for "servant leadership" on audible. My next step will be to see if I can get a refund.

Compelling content

Although excellent content, this audio book is not a training "course" in my opinion. It repeatedly makes reference to a "workbook" but there is no workbook accompanying this audio book. Also, no can be "trained" to do anything simply by listening to a subject matter expert speak from their knowledge. Rather, people actually have to apply knowledge by practicing what the instructor is teaching. It's misleading to refer to an audio book as a training course. All said, the content is excellent and worthwhile.

Over and Over and Over

Would you listen to The Servant Leadership Training Course again? Why?

I DO listen to The Servant Leadership Training Course repeatedly because like Jim says it's something that you need to hear again and again to keep it fresh in your mind.To utilize the information inside it is like exercising muscles you have to keep doing it for change to occur. I want very much to be a positive impact in the world and that requires daily exercise. Jim's training is the perfect way to prepare for work each morning, in my humble opinion.

Any additional comments?

The book is old but the ideas are timeless. It would be great if Jim updated his training course and tried not to use dated examples, but this book works great if you listen and learn.

excellent leadership book

this book did a great job framing some of the struggles associated with leadership and in my opinion the proper way that leadership should be executed. I hope to be able to apply some of these principles to my life
