Publisher's Summary

This program is read by the author.

The ultimate guide on leadership from the number-one New York Times best-selling coauthor of Extreme Ownership.

In the military, a field manual provides instructions in simple, clear, step-by-step language to help soldiers complete their mission. In the civilian sector, books offer information on everything from fixing a leaky faucet to developing an effective workout program to cooking a good steak.

But what if you are promoted into a new position leading your former peers? What if you don’t get selected for the leadership position you wanted? How do you overcome imposter syndrome when you aren’t sure you should be leading? As a leader, how do you judiciously dole out punishment? What about reward? How do you build trust with your both your superiors and your subordinates? How do you deliver truthful criticism up and down the chain of command in a tactful and positive way?

These are all questions about leadership - the most complex of all human endeavors. And while there are books out there that provide solid leadership principles, books like Extreme Ownership and The Dichotomy of Leadership, there is no leadership field manual that provides a direct, situational, pragmatic how-to guide that anyone can instantly put to use.

Until now. Leadership Strategy and Tactics explains how to take leadership theory, quickly translate that theory into applicable strategy, and then put leadership into action at a tactical level. This audiobook is the solution that leaders at every level need - not just to understand the leadership game but also how to play the leadership game and win it.

Liked it so much I'm driving to NY to see him chat

JOCKO - if I had you as a mentor (writing, podcasts, the 'gram, etc.) growing up, I'd be a different person today as an adult. I've read (and re-read) every book you and Leif have put out, and those you drafted on your own. My six-year-old is about as big a Mikey fan as you could imagine. I have achieved a lot in my life, but a few years ago I got comfortable. I have served my country, but I stopped serving, and stopped hard, I did. I am now back on track, better than ever, and I take your words seriously and have implemented much into my daily routing including beating you to rise at 4:30 - a game I like to play.

"Leadership Strategy and Tactics" didn't disappoint. I read half last night when I got home from work (thanks for the prompt shipping, Amazon!) and finished the rest after buying the Audible this morning during my commute and first few hours in the office. About to listen again and take notes. Thank you, sincerely, for making me a better husband, father, worker, owner of a company and servant of others.

Semper Fidelis,
Bretton

Awesome info

It was a great listen. But having listened to the podcast extreme ownership and dichotomy of extreme over ship multiple times, it was a lot of the same information. It drives it home and revamped a lot of the knowledge I missed or didn't remember in the other books

Extreme usefulness!

Thanks Jocko! This book distills your thoughts and experience in a useful format. I know this book will help me because I have already put some of your teaching into practice. Just finished the Audible version and have the Kindle version for reference.
Every leader needs this book and almost everyone is a leader. You could also use it for a parenting manual.
Thanks again!

Outstanding

Jocko has a way of inspiring anyone who listens to be a better leader and a better person. These tactics and strategies are an extremely concise version of the principles discussed in Extreme Ownership and Jocko's other books, as well as the podcast which is also. OUTSTANDING.

I got the chance to here Jocko speak in Hawaii this year, and whether he is speaking, writing, or narrating, he delivers his message perfectly. His writer/narrator combo allows him to perfectly emphasize his points, and he has truly helped me shape my leadership style. A must read for any leader or future leader

An Intense Insistence on Responsible Leadership

Performance:
Though it is not often the case that a Narrator is also the Author, and more so ever succeed at both rolls equally, Jocko Willink does just that. Jocko does not read blandly, robotically, or otherwise, and sound quality is also quite good. So while some may hold the vocal intensity as a determent to listening to this book, I find it only drives the importance of particular topics home, and you can pick up and can hear the differences in his approach and speaking to do just that.

Story/Content:
It does not take much research to know the author promotes "Extreme Responsibility". And this book doubly supports and encourages such to a fever point. There is good reasoning and logic behind the principals, as with great responsibility comes great power and control over a situation, with a strong focus on Team Achievement over Personal Achievement alone. Yet this book also gives examples, though somewhat anecdotal, of the thought process in action. Further more explaining/suggesting how you can expect The Team, or people in general to react in situations and why your actions will prepare for that in advance. Compared to how many Leadership books simply focus on personal character without application. Yet the sheer intensity in the approach, even if wise, is difficult to leap into. And the book doesn't offer or suggest a way of easing into the role which I believe other reader's may have difficulty adjusting to.

Overall:
A practical, heavily team focused, approach to dealing with Leadership . And when used with respect and thought, can garner great results. Though sometimes the reader may be left to wonder where exactly is a good starting point, what are the downsides or counter-arguments , and if accepting all of these burdens are actually worthwhile. But if managed, makes a great addition to a Leader's toolkit, and provides ample viewpoints to consider.
