Publisher's summary

Nils Shapiro has been hired to find missing Linnea Engstrom, a teenager from the small northern hockey town of Warroad, Minnestota. Most of Warroad is in Minneapolis for the state high school hockey tournament, and Linnea never returned from last night's game. Linnea's friend Haley Housch is also missing - and soon found dead.

Shot through the arm with an arrow at the Haley Housch crime scene, Nils should be in the hospital recovering from his near fatal injury, but he knows that the clock is ticking. Linnea could be anywhere, and someone doesn't want her found. Is Linnea a victim, or is she playing a dangerous game? As bodies start piling up, the clues lead Nils and Ellegaard north to Warroad, a small, quiet town with many secrets to hide.

Another good one

I have to admit, i don't know why i like the characters here, they're not grand or odd... mostly just decent people doing a good job, But somehow, i do. The stories are good, and characters are ones i'm interested in. And really, i prefer not to constantly read about someone trying to save the world, so maybe this is good enough. Recommended.

New writer for me and I liked him

Truly enjoyed the twists and turns of the story- only a couple things didn’t make sense to me t nothing real troubling.

Enjoyed the narrator very much!

ok

it's enjoyable to say the least. The story kept me engaged and the characters were recognizable. I enjoyed it, especially since it's free.

Good performance, but...

The performance of the narrator was great, but it would behoove the narrator to speak with the author to learn how Minnesotans actually pronounce the cities of Warroad and Wayzata.

Good storyline, kept me wondering

I thought it was a good story. I just about went crazy with the pronunciation of Warroad and Wayzata though. It’s War road not Wa road and
Why zetta not Way zetta.

I absolutely love the writer giving description to other characters in the book. I never remember names, and use description to remember people. love this series!

I’ve enjoyed the…

…first 2 books immensely. Chapter 41 about minute 12 is one of the best bits of real writing I’ve ever read.

PI Shapiro does it again.

As a former Minnesotan I have enjoyed Matt Goldman’s books. PI Shapiro picks up on clues no one else sees and solves a case which is much more involved than it originally appears. I love mysteries that keep me guessing all the way through. Mr. Andrews the narrator does a pretty good job with the local accents. But, please, please, please, learn the local pronunciations of the names of Wayzata and Warroad! It pained my ears every time he mispronounced these. That’s why I only gave three stars for performance.
