Publisher's summary

Some things shouldn't be seen....

Cherokee Pointe, Tennessee. Deep in the Smoky Mountains, the victim lies, sacrificed on a makeshift altar - the gruesome work of a killer who has evaded the authorities in state after state. FBI agent Dallas Sloan knows the scene all too well - just as he knows the killings won't stop until there are four more bodies.

Some warnings won't be heeded....

Genny Madoc's "sixth sense" has brought many of Cherokee Pointe's residents to her isolated log cabin, looking for help. But now it's Genny who needs help from the disturbing visions she sees - images that are getting stronger and more violent day by day.

Some fears can't be stopped....

Thrown together by necessity, drawn to each other by desire, Dallas and Genny must band together, searching the darkest heart of a town's hidden secrets before a twisted killer can complete a sinister plan that will make one of them the fifth victim.

If you like Romance - predictable

I mistakenly purchased this audible thinking it was murder/mystery but was soon listening to a romance easy to guess every step and no mystery audible book. So if you like cheesy romance novels this is a good book. The reader did well and the characters were mostly likable. I could have been more into it and put up with the romance had the story not of been so predictable.

sophomoric soft porn

Predictable, the narrator was terrible, Way too much sexual detail. Only finished it because I am guaranteed.
Must miss.

Soft porn masquerading as a mystery

Horrible soft porn. The mystery took a back seat to the overly gratuitous sex. Ugh!

Cringy

The narrator delivers each chapter heading in a breathless, intimate tone. I don’t know why. “Chapter 20” is not a breathtaking thing to say.

The rest of the book is delivered in a soulless monotone that sounds computer generated. I have to assume the setting was “Female voice #2; inappropriately intimate tone.”

However, it’s hard to place too much blame on the narrator, when she’s made to read such ponderous prose. Did you know that when 2 characters are in a scene, and they both take their coffee black, that there’s no need to set out cream or sugar? You will after listening to this book.

I gave up someplace during the 5+ minutes of description of the furniture in the room in which the hero and heroine were presumably, someday, going to have sex. After they each took showers. Separately. All of which was described in painstaking detail.

By the time they were clean, had the candles set out around the room, (the candles were fat, white, handmade, and stored in the bottom drawer, btw,) and granny’s handmade quilt was on the bed... I didn’t care anymore. I’m not sure the characters themselves cared anymore, either.

I couldn’t finish this. I found myself envious of victims 1-4, because at least they weren’t suffering through this book anymore.

It was so bad that I found myself embarrassed to be listening to it.

Eye Rolling

My eyes nearly rolled out of my head listening to this atrocity. This was one of the most absurd books I've ever listened to. Wish I could give it zero stars. How on earth it has a four and a half star rating is beyond me. Makes me wonder if the listeners have ever truly listened to or read a good book. How very sad for them that this is their standard. Don't waste your time.

Don’t Bother

I don’t think the author could decide how she wanted to go with this storyline. Blood thirsty vampires, witches, how about romance, porn, murder mystery? What the heck, just throw it all in there and see what happens. I like twists and turns but this just seemed to be all over the place. Maybe I just lost interest too soon and tuned out a lot. Whatever the case, I just didn’t like it.

3-pack-a-day smoker?

The narrator was terrible. Not only did I expect to hear a lung being hacked up any second due to lifelong smoking, it was so mumbled and incoherent that I had to constantly rewind just to try to decipher what had been said. Strongly recommend giving this book and narrator a permanent miss.

Bugged me

Narrator sounded like a serious long time smoker. Heroine was weak and willing to be used for sex. Gross all the way around. If you like intelligent novels about crime, this is crap.

I thought this book was great; Dallas and Ginny <3

I usually disregard books based off reviews, but I am glad I didn't listen because I actually liked it. It was like a crazy rollercoaster of a soap opera mixed with Criminal Minds. I enjoyed it. It had sexual content, but soaps and night time television has it too. If you aren't into that stuff, then you shouldn't get this book. If you are into that, then get it. I loved it.

Disappointing

I was expecting a murder mystery. This was a romance novel. Not much substance to the mystery story line. The idea was good , but the author failed the mystery storyline. As others said it was predictable.
