Story
The crime scenes are horrifying: the victims arranged with deliberate care, posed to appear alive despite their agonized last moments and the shocking nature of their deaths. No Place To Hide – Chattanooga grief counselor Audrey Sherrod moonlights for the local police. It-s clear to her, and to Special Agent J.D. Cass, that the murders are the work of a deranged serial killer. At first, the only link is the victims- similar physical appearance. But then another connection emerges, tying them to a long-ago series of horrifying crimes Audrey hoped would never resurface-crimes that hit all too close to home

Story
Homicide detective Julia Cass has witnessed plenty of crime scenes. But the murder of a Chattanooga judge is shocking in its brutality. Teamed with FBI agent Will Brannock, Julia delves into an investigation that soon unearths more bodies - all mutilated in the same way, all left with a gruesome souvenir of a killer's ruthless rage.... The only way to stop the slaughter is to predict the next victim. But when you're dealing with vengeance at its most ruthless, one wrong move can make you a target...and the next word you utter could be your last....

Classic Beverly Barton
Excellent narration. This story is exactly why Beverly is one of my go to authors. The story takes off quickly. The characters have depth. Beverly has a unique way of creating people you love to love, along with people you love to hate. The best part is that the villains always get what's coming to them.

Soft porn crime with ridiculous gender stereotyping
What a disappointment! While the overall story could have been interesting, this gradually turning more and more into a soft porn crime story detracted from the story. But what really made this an unbearable listen was the ridiculous gender stereotyping, chauvinist dialogues and the portrayal of possessiveness as something desirable and equating love. Beats me how so many listeners give this book a good rating. I’d have hoped we’re getting over these antiquated, male dominance/female submission and helplessness portrayals.

Truly awful. Don't waste your time!
Slow, flat characters. Some pretty disgusting story points that seem to be there for next to no real reason. The murder mystery is a very distant afterthought. Terrible writing. Very poor and unwanted erotica all over the place. You'll see every one of the 'Big plot-drops' coming a mile off. I grately commend the poor narrator dor managing to get through this absolute trash and waste of time, and hope she was at least paid VERY well for it. Why anyone would pay for this is beyond me.
This absolutely awful story (Which is a waste of data, paper, time, energy, battery and more) is also part of a series but doesn't have the main character of the series in at all. Which just adds to how totally pointless this book is.
Trigger warnings of domestic abuse and incest, too.

Well !
This is a story !
An ok picture of Aholes, red nex, bad sex and all the other scum is southern US.
This more a story about the south and it’s ugly side then it is a novel !
There is one semi positive thing that I can say, it’s brave for a brilliant narrator like Stevens to try to save this and actually make it into a story but the context can not even Stevens save but it is an impressive try non the less ?

good story
I enjoyed the story and for once also enjoyed the happy ending, usually I'm not a fan if happy endings, that's not life!!
narration was ok, but at times annoying, female narration can fail for male characters, especially adolescent boys!!
the twists in the story were good and a couple if double twists too.
sex scenes I'm not a fan of, but these were tolerable (barely) and minus 1 star for use of the creepy word used by child molesters and s3xual deviants ( panties eeerqk).
Not bad for an afternoon read/ listen

Usually hate “romance” but this was a good story.
I usually go for a crime/mystery novel and this one started out very engaging. I realised I was into the wrong genre half way though when the throbbing “sex’s” really got into action. Usually I’d switch off after that but I was very much into the story so after a little skipping forward, I finished the story and really enjoyed it.
