Publisher's Summary

My name is Savannah Miller. My father is the mayor of New York. One day, after my 27th birthday, I was grabbed from behind. A cloth sack was quickly pulled over my head, and I was taken from everything I'd ever known.

I was beaten, starved, treated like an animal, and forced to live in a room with no windows. With no sense of time and no dignity left, I finally gave up hope and made a promise to myself to end it all. Unfortunately, it was going to be a slow process.

Then one night an elite group of US Army soldiers came to my rescue. I was brought to a safe house and given two options:

One - Stay under their protection and follow their rules or....

Two - Leave and be guaranteed to be returned to the savages within a week.

I chose option one.

As I work with a therapist and begin processing my hellish ordeal, things slowly begin to surface. With the help of new friends and a potential new love, I fight to get my life back and make choices that will forever alter my future. This is my story....

Really!! Im kinda pissed...

Book was good.
However....How do you have a series available from audibles and miss a book.
You can only get book 1 and 3.
Shattered book 2 of the series is not available.
Very disappointed...

Consumed

Wow, this is such an amazing book. It's so well written and narrated. It hooks you from the very beginning to the very end. I couldn't get enough. Sucks the sequel isn't on audio, but will be reading it immediately!

Not What I Expected

The book started off on a good note and continued with increasing interest, until Savanna started to become bolder. So, props to the author for capturing and keeping my attention through that medium. However, this must be said. It's not very attractive to listen or read about a female character, especially the main one, to behave spoilt and whiney.

It is very well established that each person handles trauma differently, but I'm not a big fan of persons repeatedly making foolish decisions to decline the help needed and being offered, especially after said sources have repeatedly proven themselves to be trustworthy enough.

Some may say that a cold POV, but you should know, that it's also stupid, especially if it helps to protect you. Anyway, I hope her character can be more tolerable in Shattered. If not, then, it would be sad not to be able to find out if they got their happily ever after.

Story: 2.5 Stars; Audio: 4 Stars

Broken was a romantic suspense that sported a very compelling suspense thread, but the romance was rather weak. The story's romance was the definition of why insta-love rarely works for me. Vague romantic interactions felt inauthentic and awkward. Broken was also a dual POV with Savannah's in 1st person and the hero's in 3rd. The interchanging POV alone didn't impact my enjoyment and while I normally prefer 3rd person, the author's writing was stronger in 1st. If it weren't for the suspense aspect, I might have stopped reading early on. The story concept was intriguing and I really wanted to see how the mystery of Savannah's circumstances played out. Unfortunately, this story ends on a cliffhanger and I'm still unsure if I'll continue. I'm intrigued and would like to know the outcome, but I'm not sure that I would want to wade through the continuing romance.
The audio presentation was fairly well done, but due to the story content and lack of using contractions in the writing, the dialogue often sounded stilted. This is by no means the fault of the narrator.

3.5 Stars

Wasn’t too keen for the narrator. Her voice sounded like that of a teenager not a woman in her mid twenties. There seemed to be something lacking in her male character voices also.
Story itself was okay. I hope the pace picks up in books 2 and 3 or I might fall asleep, which is difficult to do while wearing an ear buds.

Terrible - cheesy, predictable & uninteresting

This book lacks everything . . . a descent story line, interesting characters, etc. It's so predictable and cheesy that I was laughing during most of the last half of the book. I don't think the author was going for that reaction. Ugh. So bad.

Uncomfortable and unconvincing

Any additional comments?

Wholly unsatisfying book. Some understanding by the author about trauma and its effects, and some ability to develop convincing characters instead of cardboard cut-outs would have been a large step forward. Shame as it was a good premis for a book, but the main female character was a spoilt rich bitch with uncharacteristic outbursts, the male lead a character of two opposing halves - unintentionally it seems as this was never addressed or used to create dramatic tension, and the in-house baddie just would have never been in-house in the first place. I read good reviews of this book on this site, but can only assume that they were reading something else. Fortunately I can return it and get something decent to listen to.

Loved it

Great story line. Reminded me of the steel brothers saga. I sometimes got confused with the back and forth of point of view but that’s if I was being picky.
