Be aware, this is a trip through a seriously disturbed mind. The Darkness isn’t like some of the tougher BDSM romances. This book has brutal violence. Imagine the most brutal things that one person can do to another and you’ll probably be pretty close. There is also scenes with child abuse; both physical and sexual. Both the Hero and Heroine suffer from their own personal demons. They do help each other, a bit, but this is not a HEA story. As a matter of fact, this is a trilogy, so part one and two are both ended with cliffhangers.

These characters’ aren’t looking for redemption and they live strictly by an, “eye for an eye” lifestyle; with no regrets. Before listening to this trilogy, be aware that this level of violence is constant, throughout the series.

The book is well written and is likely a pretty accurate representation of the lives of a 1% biker club that doesn’t even attempt to follow the law.

Trigger and Tess in a Whole New Light

I read Trigger and loved it. Listening to it I felt a whole new connection to the book and all it has to offer. I shared in the darkness that J.L Drake portrays, laughed along with the characters, and loved every minute of Trigger and Tess.

I was intrigued by the synopsis & reviews I had read. I decided to buy even though it was a little out of my comfort zone.

The first in a trilogy and it did not disappoint. JL Drake must have dug deep to write this intensely distinctive character such as Trigger. And the narrators Connor Goff & Lacie Glennox are extremely gifted to make those words come to life chapter after chapter.

I had to listen to this book in pieces. When it got too intense for me I went to listen to something along the lines of rainbows & Sunshine. However, I was deeply invested in Triggers story so I had to finish it and buy the next book.

If you have an aversion to violence then perhaps you should skip. If your up for a walk on the extremely wild side then click buy it now.

I sure hope there's a HEA at the end of book 3.

This is my third time listening to this series. I absolutely love the narration of both! I can’t say enough about how well this is written and read. So many times you get a book and they don’t put enough development into the characters. This has everything! I wish she would do more on this MC!
